Octopus: Scribble Picnic

Octopus: Scribble Picnic

I’m back to joining the prompts by Dotty Hill. This week the prompt is Octopus.

I didn’t find out about this until late – so I grabbed my pencil, then micropens and then my watercolour pencil crayons and began.

As soon as I read the word “Octopus” I knew I had to paint and write something. That is me. Yes me. I feel like a happy octopus with my hands in a million pies. You might be able to figure out some of them.

Got to run and make dinner. It’s crusty panfried halibut and vegetables. Hubby’s hungry. Hope you enjoy the picture.

I really need another 8 limbs.

Just under the wire.

Drop over to see the rest of the pictures of the Octopuses.

  1. That dinner DOES sound delectable! And how funny that our minds both went to “hmmm eight arms… the things I could get done!” I love the playfulness of your octopus! She looks so happy to be so productive!

    1. Cassie,
The dinner was delicious. Didn’t burn anything. The Octopus is me – playful and productive – love that. Thank you. Now I have to wait to cook for a few days as hubby is renovating the kitchen and the stove is pulled out. But I cooked enough for 3 good meals.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  2. This is great Jan. I knew right away who it was. It would be great to have more arms but you do do all that with only the two. It reminds me of one of those ‘meet the artist’ illustrations I’ve been seeing. πŸ™‚

    1. Hanna,
It was you that made me remember to join in to #scribblepicnic. Thank you. More arms would just add to my ADD. Which I don’t think I have but wonder sometime. πŸ™‚
Guess we will see each other every week – that I remember.
      Blessings,
      Janis

    1. Hi Linda,
Thank you so much. It was done very quickly – time was fleeting but I knew as soon as I saw the prompt that I had to join in. Too much fun.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  3. Busy, busy, busy! But aren’t we glad that we can be? (and that God wired our brains to keep track of it all) I was even later linking than you. Even though I started my octopus a couple of weeks ago, didn’t finish it up until this evening.

    1. Love meeting you at #scribblepicnic. Yes I am a believer too. Great to have you aboard. And God has taken me on a wonderful journey for sure. Glad to be following Him.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  4. What a fun piece, Janis. I LOVE your paleo cookbook he/she is holding. Too fun! Nice to have you back.

    1. Hi Alexandra,
It’s great meeting you again. I am excited to join in this Scribble Picnic. Have you tried Paleo? We are actually more heavy on the vegetables but certainly following no grains and no sugar. Both of us feel great, have more energy, and hubby lost 40 pounds. Glad to be back.
      Blessings,
      Janis

    1. Lorraine,
It’s so great to have you join us. I haven’t been in this for a while – Michael used to do Creative Tuesdays. Loved that too. I enjoyed visiting your site. See you next week.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  5. This is so much like my own life…so many life distractions often going on at once. It would certainly be handy to have eight arms. haha Wonderful take on the challenge, Janis!

    1. Serena,
Kindred spirits I guess. I am finding I must be very careful to turn off the stove because if hubby says one word I follow the conversation and forget the stove entirely. Urg. But I do love doing and trying everything.
      Blessings,
      Janis

    1. Christine,
Well if you knew me as my hubby does you will know that this is me. He laughed when he saw it too. ADD I must be. Love getting myself into lots of things.
      Glad to be back.
      Blessings,
      Janis

    1. Sue,
Yes she is. But a very happy one who doesn’t get stressed – but sometimes tired and goes to bed early to recharge her batteries. My latest new thing is pickle ball – not sure you could understand it from the pictures. πŸ™‚
      Blessings,
      Janis

  6. Janis, welcome back!! And yes, a good tie in too to the Octo theme. Reminds me of what Cassie wrote up as well–needing more arms to do everything! Perfect! πŸ™‚ Funny, as I didn’t even think of that angel but totally works.

AS for your dinner–crusty panfried halibut and vegetables sounds waaaaay better than what I made, or attempted to make for dinner tonight. It was meant to be stir ry in a wok, which I jsut got but somehow it burned right away as soon as I put the stuff in the oil. Burnt, smokey carrots and broccoli are pretty awful, let me tell you. I ruined the new pan too, incredibly. Going to return it as it was not cheap! lol. So wish I coudl cook better. We are far better bakers, really.

    1. Oh Michael I will probably burn my dinner by typing this. But I had to reply as you cracked me up. I am doing a stir fry as well with peppers, asparagus, brussel sprouts, zucchini.
Better run and check it. Glad to be back again. I had fun. I use a heavy cast iron pan and a good wok.
      Blessings,
      Janis

    1. Lissa,
Maybe I should get myself some rectangular glasses? Yes a few more arms would probably do it. But then I would need the brain to go with it. Don’t think I could keep all the balls in motion at the same time.
      Blessings,
      Janis

I love to connect with you.
