Sunday Stillness – How to Be Careful

Sunday Stillness – How to Be Careful

The ladybug can teach us many things. Just the term “lady” reminds us to watch how we act, speak and think. How do we treat others? What comes out of our mouths? We know the term lady but here is a definition from a dictionary:

a woman who is refined, polite, and well-spoken:

And for the men reading this post – are you acting as gentlemen?

Here is a definition of gentleman:

a civilized, educated, sensitive, or well-mannered man:

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15, NIV).

Be careful, then, how you live
Be wise,
Be filled with the Spirit
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.
Live as children of the light (selected passages from Ephesians 5).

Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it (Ephesians 5:, MSG).

Does this mean for women to act as ladies (Proverbs 31) and men to act as gentlemen?

I think so. What are your thoughts?

  1. I love that Ephesians 5 starts with a description of polite, considerate behavior, then moves to a description of the arts (I love Eph. 5:19 especially because it’s my birth verse!). A friend of ours may be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because he has brought ballroom dancing into inner city and Middle Eastern schools, teaching civility and consideration even amongst enemies by the amenities of the dance. I believe God uses the universal language of arts not only to glorify Him, but to find common ground on which we can to treat one another well. Thanks for the great post & for hosting & God bless..

    1. Laurie,
That’s awesome news Laurie. Playing, working and dancing together – what a great way to learn to get along with one another.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  2. Janis, I believe that your words are spot-on, my friend and I pray that we as believers will always conduct ourselves as ladies and gentlemen in CHRIST. Peace and many blessings to you, Love! 🙂

  3. These words right here sum it up for me- “Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it (Ephesians 5:, MSG).” This is how we need to live our lives and what others should see when they see us. Thank you for sharing this at The Weekend Brew. Good to see you today!

  4. And the beauty of this is that when the Lord shines through His people, He is glorified and His name is hallowed. Blessings to you, Janis, on this Lord’s Day!

  5. I love today’s post. Mine was about seeking God’s help in our decision making, which kind of goes along with your post about how we should act. If we consider what God would have us do, whether in our actions or decision making, our light would shine much brighter in the World.

  6. I don’t like to say the phrase “Take Care” because I don’t want people to literally TAKE CARE. Now your post on how to be CAREFUL is awesome.

  7. I think that acting as ladies and gentlemen is one of the very ways we are light in this world. When others know that we are in Christ, they are watching us and how we behave does matter.

Thanks for the reminder today and the link-up.
Love your ladybug pic. Very sweet!

Blessings to you and yours, Janis!

I love to connect with you.
