Sunday Stillness – Quote by Max Lucado

Max Lucado Quote - jungle
Watercolour by Janis Cox 2013

Sometimes my days seem like a fog – like last week. Other times I feel like I am in a jungle with branches, and vines, and everything all swirling around me.

In our Bible study we are using a book called The Gospel of Matthew by Max Lucado.

In lesson five called “Following Christ”, Max asks these questions and gives his answers.

Does God remove the jungle? No, the vegetation is still thick.

Does he purge the predators? No, the danger still lurks.

Jesus doesn’t give hope by changing the jungle; he restores our hope by giving us Himself.

And I am so grateful that God can bring peace in the midst of the jungle. He can make me calm, and even joyful when things seem to be confusing.

I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:20, NIV).

Today is #SundayStillness

(yes you can use that hashtag when you tweet your posts).

Do you have a Scripture that spoke to you this week? Please link below. If you post to Twitter use #sundaystillness and @authorjaniscox.

That would be great.

Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

  1. Dear Janis
This is so true, my friend. Somewhere along time the lie crept into Christianity that children of God are exempt from suffering. Nothing can be further than the truth. He loves us to much with His perfect love to leave us the way we were. He deciplines us like the best Father He is.

    1. Mia,
It is a hard notion that all won’t be rosy in this life. But once we accept that fact we can take each day as it comes and thank God for each little blessing.
      Blessings,
      Janis

    1. Laurie,
Thank you. I tried to find an online picture of a jungle but had to pay for it. So decided to create my own. This is an interesting technique we have been using called blow painting. The whole painting never really saw a brush stroke.
      Blessings,
      Janis

I love to connect with you.
