Sunday Stillness – Seek His Kingdom

Sunday Stillness – Seek His Kingdom

Seek-His-Kingdom

Seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well (Luke12:31, NIV).

I have joined Margaret Feinberg and 10 000 others in reading through the New Testament for Lent. So far I am keeping up.

Of course I can’t just read the words. I have to study them; question them; and write down my thoughts.

While reading Luke I came across this passage. I remembered a similar passage from Matthew in the King James Version.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33, KJV).

What it meant to me is for me to be on the lookout for God in my day. When I received this picture above in the mail I immediately saw the cross. I had a similar experience when I was taking pictures early in the morning last year. Take a look at the picture below. It was an aha moment as I searched for reflections in pictures.

Today is Sunday Stillness.

Do you have a Scripture that spoke to you this week? Please link below. If you post to Twitter use #sundaystillness and @authorjaniscox.

Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

  1. Hi Janis,
I love the “cross” photo. One day I saw 3 crosses, as on Calvary, formed by tree branches in our backyard woods. God is good! Thanks for hosting & God bless.

    1. Laurie,
keeping watch. Couldn’t believe the sun making a cross in the hotel room. And the one in the reflection of the painting was too cool especially as I prayed to see His glory that morning.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  2. Hi Janis!
I was excited to see your blog was on the list at Missional Women so I could pay you a quick visit. This statement is profound, ‘ Watch for God Signs’. It is so amazing to me just how many things He lays out before our eyes to see His majesty and His working in our lives. So, when we are watching for God signs, we are earnestly EXPECTING to see God show up in our daily living. If we are expecting that our faith is increased and we can proceed in hope. 🙂
I am joining with you and Margaret in the Lent Challenge. I confess.. I am behind, but so enjoying the journey through the Words so dear to my heart. Bless you as you spend time in His Word.
    In Him,
    Dawn

    1. Dawn,
So great to meet you. And yes as we watch we expect to see Him at work. He does show up – all the time. And I love the reading through the NT as well. Even at 2am.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  3. Janis –
I have been doing the same NT reading challenge with Margaret. It has continued to amaze me all that I am learning from what has been familiar stories in the Gospels. I am with you, my friend! May we continue to seek Him & look for Him as we continue to make our way through the New Testament. May we “see” more of Him than we ever expected. Have a blessed Sunday! And thank you for so faithfully hosting this linkup, which blesses me every week!
    Love in Him,
    Joanne

    1. Joanne,
This is the only part I won’t give up on my sabbatical – I believe everyone here is benefiting from the Lord’s Word as we share together.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  4. Your sightings of Him around you are the hidden treasures of Jesus along the path as our women’s leader would say. I love the cross in these two places, especially the window frame
Remind s me of the cross I saw at Tucson Botanical Gardens. By the way, hope my post meets the critetia today.

    1. Janis,
I am sure your post met all the criteria – God is speaking, you write – that’s it. And yes watching for Him – amazing where He is taking me.
      Blessings,
      Janis

I love to connect with you.
