Sunday Stillness – What is a River of Prayer?

For the past few days my hubby and I were on a short vacation with our boat. Hubby loves boating – I like it. We went to Gananoque, Ontario with our boat. Gananoque is on the St. Lawrence River. We took two trips on the river. One up stream, one down.

I found it wonderful to read Oswald Chambers this morning as he talked about the river.

The river of the Spirit of God overcomes all obstacles.

A river touches places of which its source knows nothing.

Isn’t that just like God? He showed me the spiritual connection of what I had experienced.

God wants us to let the Holy Spirit flow through us – like a river.

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of Living water will flow from within him (John 7:38, NIV).

Rivers of Living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way (John 7:38, The Message).

This is how I felt about the St. Lawrence River:

The St. Lawrence:
steady, unchanging
flowing, constant,
consistent, moving,
powerful, relentless.

Let our prayers be like a river  – steady and in constant motion..

I see them flowing, building, joining together, moving, going around obstacles or God removing obstacles, endless, and powerful.

Prayer:

May we lift our voices as one to you, Lord. May they flow through us as we allow the Holy Spirit to take control. Remind us to pray at all times. Help us to become bold for You. Help us to reach out to others. Help us to see the News as a call to prayer. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

Each time you pray this week, picture the Holy Spirit River – all the pray-ers joining together as sweet incense to Jesus.

Today I leave you with two praise songs:

The River is Here by Andy Park.

Remember “all that touch it can be revived”.

Take us to the River by Robin Mark.

Remember “for it is grace that river flows”.
