AN APPLE A DAY FROM GOD

An Apple a Day from God

We all know the saying, “An apple a day will keep the doctor away”. Apples are known to have very healthy benefits. I found another saying from 1886, “Eat an apple before going to bed, and you keep the doctor from earning his bread.” If you are interested in the health benefits of apples check out Apple: the Health Promoting Fruit.

I believe God gives us what we need to live on using the word APPLE as an acronym:

  1. A – All
  2. P – Passion
  3. P – Protection
  4. L – Love
  5. E – Energy

We need all of these things to help us grow and gain wisdom from His Truth. I love Paul’s words in Colossians.

“To this end I labour, struggling with all His energy, which so powerfully works in me” (Colossians 1:29 NIVUK).

We could substitute any of my ‘apple words’ for energy in this quote. Think about it –

  • with all His passion
  • with all His protection
  • with all His love
  • with all His energy

Now I need to find another word that will encompass His wisdom, His patience, His endurance, His grace, His strength, His kindness, His power – MORE? Can you come up with a word that can show some of God’s wonderful characteristics?

God I need an APPLE a day. My prayer is for You to help me use everything I gain from You in all I do to glorify You here on earth. I pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

  1. Jan,
I really enjoyed this post and your use of the word ‘apple’ to create an acronym. One of my favorite’s that I use when it comes to my relationship with God and those around me is ‘LAFF’ (laugh). I have used my own creative/phonetic spelling.
    L-Love
    A-Accept
    F-Forgive
    F-Forget

I feel the more we make every effort to LAFF in life, the better off we wil all be. 🙂

    1. Dolores,
I totally agree – to laugh is in a way being grateful even when we are troubled – an expression of joy that only God can give. I really did laugh out loud this morning when I called our dog Snowmobile instead of Snowball when talking to the vet. So loving, accepting, forgiving and forgetting – let’s enjoy His gifts. Thanks for your comment.
      Blessings,
      Jan

I love to connect with you.
