BRAVE – Five Minute Fridays

Brave

A good practice for making me write – Five Minute Fridays. Linking onto The Gypsy Mama with the word  BRAVE.

Here are the rules:

Around here we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.

We write because we love words and the relief it is to just write them without worrying if they’re just right or not. So we take five minutes on Friday and write like we used to run when we were kids.

On Fridays we write like we believe we can fly. Won’t you join us? (<—Tweet this!)

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.

So here I go:

BRAVE

My sister and I grew up always hearing the words, “be a brave little soldier”. My Dad, a captain in World War II, knew that in order to be strong, one must be brave. Bravery means to me to keep my head up, be a clear thinker, not let the “world” get to me, and always stick with the truth (even if it hurts).

I know that God helps us be brave. In the face of disaster and even little disturbances He is there. He can produce a calmness and fortitude I didn’t know I had.

My daughter recently birthed a 10 pound 7 ounce baby naturally. Her focus was amazing – she concentrated on her body and listened to it. That’s bravery. We had prayer warriors in the wings praying. Thanks to all those wonderful people.

I always remember the story of David and Goliath – David faced his fears; worked through them; bravely went forth and conquered a giant.

With God’s help we can face our fears and be brave.

Time’s up.

Your turn. See the instructions above if you want to join in writing for 5 minutes.

  1. I love this perspective, thank you! I feel like I’ve seen a negative side of brave through foster care, but I love your gentle reminder of what it can really look like. Love the connection to David & Goliath. Thanks! Meaghan

    1. Oh I am glad that you liked my post. Yes bravery should be a positive thing that we do with God’s help. Walking upright, trusting in Him and moving forward.
      Blessings,

I love to connect with you.
