Creative Tuesdays – Orange

Creative Tuesdays – Orange

Yes challenged again for Creative Tuesdays. The prompt is “orange”. And you know that I will always think of what God’s Word says or shows about orange.

I started reading through the Psalms a few weeks back, but my friend started a Facebook Bible Study on Proverbs, so I switched. Then she started Acts, so I joined that and I began to be a beta reader for another friend’s Bible Study on Daniel. Can you see my mind?

But finally this week I got back to my Psalms. I found my place in my Bible and began again at Psalm 19. This is what I saw.

sunrise-Ps-19-6

From the New Century Version. Psalm 19:6

That’s how God’s Word vaults across the skies
    from sunrise to sunset,
Melting ice, scorching deserts,
warming hearts to faith (Psalm 19:6, The Message).

In NIV,

It [the sun] rises at one end of the heavens
    and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth (Psalm 19:6, NIV).

So here is this week’s painting, done in watercolour pencil. Our house faces south – so I see the sun rise in the east and set in the west, from my left to my right. I pictured it in the morning and the evening.

The sun is a supreme metaphor for God.

We can read more in Psalm 84:11

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favour and honour (Psalm 84:11, NIVUK)

And we read more in Isaiah.

for the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory (Isaiah 60:19, NIV).

You’ll have no more need of the sun by day
nor the brightness of the moon at night.
God will be your eternal light,
your God will bathe you in splendor (Isaiah 60:19, The Message).

I enjoyed looked for orange. May the Son shine in your life.

      Hi Alexandra,
I don’t use them often but like it when I need a quick sketch. I find blending the colours more difficult and sometimes the pencil colour “sticks” to the page, especially the darker colours. Thanks for dropping by.

Orange definitely works for the sun and you show that with the sunrise and sunset here. Good interpretation, Janis. thank you. now, I would have really laughed if you even found some verse that had the word “orange” in it, but yes, it is certainly a warming colour.

      Michael,
You do challenge me to find something that my readers want to hear. That’s why it takes me so long to finish – because I have to pray and listen to the Spirit before starting to paint. lol:) And I love orange. It has so much umpf in it. Passion I guess.
Blessings and thanks so much for hosting Creative Tuesdays.

sunset and sunrise – you can see it as a beginning and then a restart another something new. & the sun is always surprising us with its clors, especially those orange sunsets. this a pretty good idea for CT.

    have a lovely day.

      Thanks Lissa,
Yes each day is a new one – with the sun rising. I love the sunrises and sunsets. Actually we named our bed and breakfast (when we ran it) Sunrise Terrace. So I am fond of both.
      Blessings,
      Janis

    Hi Janis,
I like how you combined the daylight sun and the evening sun. And especially the correlation to God being the “Son”. Well done, my friend. I wasn’t able to get anything done for this time. 🙂

      Tracy,
I squeezed this one under the wire as I was reading and studying in the morning. I find the watercolour pencils easy to do a quick painting. Sorry you couldn’t participate this time. I love seeing your creations.
      Blessings

I love this Janis. Orange reminds me of fire. Hot flaming fire. The first thing that comes to my mind is the Holy Spirit. God fills my heart with warmth and this brings comfort. I love sunny days and fire places. I like to sit and soak. I feel peace when I take time out to do this. This reminds me to take time out before the Lord. We have lizards. They sit still on their hot rocks – soaking in the heat and sun. They look so content. And I am reminded how important it is to be still and know God. So out in the sun I go today!!!!

      Lisa,
I am heading out to garden – plant my peppers and tomatoes. And it is sunny.
I had a thought of trying the Holy Spirit descending at Pentecost but ran out of time. That is the image that I really saw at first. But then I read the Psalm and it seemed perfect.
      Thanks for commenting.
      Blessings,

I love garden season!!!! We are working on getting our peppers and tomatoes in too. I liked the Psalm you shared. And all day I keep seeing in my head the picture you painted.
