OPPORTUNITY – Five Minute Fridays

Opportunity

“A favourable junction of circumstances” – that’s opportunity.

I believe God brings us opportunities. I also believe that we sometimes say no, due to fear, worry and circumstances.

Grace Fox’s Bible study, Moving From Fear to Freedom, is breaking down some of those barriers for me.

For a long time I would tell myself that I am not good enough to write. I would say the same thing about my painting.

Then opportunities happened –

The Word Guild runs Write! Canada, a conference for all writers at any stage of development, who are accepted and encouraged in their writing. You can read an interview from Wendy Nelles about the wonderful opportunity that awaits you if you sign up.

I took watercolour classes in Arizona where the instructor took the time to show me how to “see” my pictures.

Prayer from my fellow Bible study women for me to just “do it” brought me to the point where I have published my first children’s book (6 of them to start), to bring to Write! Canada and see where God wants this to go.

There are opportunities out there for writers, painters, speakers, and whatever else you desire.

I see requests for articles from Christian magazines. I have been published a little. But I haven’t worked at it.

The opportunities are there. I needed the PUSH. I hold back. So my prayer is for God to help me move through my fear and go for it.

Time is up.

What opportunities do you have waiting in the wings? Where has God been nudging you?

Around here we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.

We write because we love words and the relief it is to just write them without worrying if they’re just right or not. So we take five minutes on Friday and write like we used to run when we were kids.

On Fridays we write with gusto, unselfconscious and flat out.

What can you write in five minutes flat? {—> click to tweet}.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.

OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on:
