FIVE MINUTE FRIDAY – Ordinary

Five Minute Friday – Ordinary

Blue Sky of Arizona
For me right now – this is ordinary.

Linking in with Lisa Jo to write for  5 minutes only. See the bottom of the post if you want to join.

 Synonyms for the word ORDINARY:

common – usual – regular – normal – habitual – customary

I love ordinary. I love when things are going regularly. Everyone is well. Everyone is happy. There are lulls like this – and I breathe them in.

But I know too even for me, that ordinary doesn’t last. There are things that come to break that ordinariness. Sometimes those things are good; some not so good. But in all of them I still stand on the Word of God. God is always in our circumstances.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV).

And then there are those not so ordinary God experiences. I have had several this week.

In one case I heard of a friend’s daughter who saved her child and another child when they fell in a not-so-frozen lake. And the daughter is 8 months pregnant. How did she manage to do that? – God – for sure, for sure. And the prayer of others for protection for families.

In another I heard how God is working in a life to make changes in a heart so that there is no fear, only acceptance and love.

Myself – I see how God puts people in my path, both for my writing and for prayer. That is so awesome – to see it is God.

Though I like ordinary
I am looking out for an extraordinary God
who is unfathomable, unchangeable, unordinary God. Tweet this.

Can you see God at work in your ordinary life? Let me know in the comment section.

Blessings,

Janis

    1. Rachael,
I am learning that more every day. Just watching where God is at work and then following His lead – He can do amazing things.

  1. I love looking for the way God works in our everyday life.

A recent experience is that over the past year or so I have really committed to tithing at church. I have also wanted to send my son back to the school associated with our church but finances have been such that I can’t. A couple of weeks ago, church announced that they are reducing tuition for church members. I got an email this week and one of the guidelines is that you are a regular giver. With this reduction and a tax return that was more than expected, I am sending my son back to the Christian school next year. This is a prayer answered.

I also had a conversation with my son that was completely led by the Lord earlier this week. He is so faithful. I wrote a post about it just before todays.

    I loved your post!

    1. Vicki,
What a lovely story. If we are faithful with our givings (which is really God’s money anyway) then we are blessed. That is wonderful that your son is going back to school next year. Thank You, Lord.
      Thanks for dropping by,
      blessings,
      Janis

I love to connect with you.
