FIVE MINUTE FRIDAYS – Jump

Five Minute Fridays  – Jump

On Fridays I link to Lisa Jo Baker and take only 5 minute to write a post. Great for making me sit and write with total freedom. Here goes:

JUMP

When I think of JUMP I think of double dutch (the double skipping rope game). To be able to conquer the doubles ropes required perfect timing and then to jump while in the ropes required focus and control.

At the age of 10 I had grown to almost my 5 foot 10 inch height. My feet felt extremely far away and my arms always knocked things over. Graceful I was not. And I had a slender frame – skinny.

To master double dutch became a passion and I worked at it until it was accomplished.

All my life this passion to JUMP in has pushed me further. When I don’t know something or think I can’t do it – I jump in anyway because I have learned three important things:

I belong to Jesus:

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29, NIV).

Jesus is my strength:

“but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31, NIV).

I no longer have to fear, so have peace:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV).

We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Now where will I jump next? I love this video of my church in Arizona who are ALL IN. I have shown this before but I really like it.

Is there anything you feel God is calling you to jump into? What is holding you back?

JUMP

Linking in with Lisa-Jo Baker and Five Minute Fridays.

Time’s up. What do you think of when you think of the word JUMP?

1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in {you can grab the button code in my blog footer}
3. Go leave some comment props for the five minute artist who linked up before you {and if you love us, consider turning off word verification for the day to make it easier for folks to say howdy}

It’s a great way to catch your breath at the end of a long week.

    1. Laura,
      Your comment went to spam – so sorry. Found it. When there are 2 links it dumps it is the garbage can. Thank you for your comment.
      Trying to forget the youth- lol:) but sometimes were great.
      Blessings

  1. “All my life this passion to JUMP in has pushed me further.” I think we share that same tendency to jump. When I was a kid, I didn’t stop to think it through. Now I go ahead and jump because Jesus is with me.

    Great post, Janis!

  2. Dear Janis
    You take us far back with the double skipping rope! Yes, it is not easy, but with practice you do master that tricky game. It is also not easy to take that first jump into our Lord, but once we have, we never want to go back.
    Blessings

  3. Such encouraging scriptures here. Enjoyed the video from your church. I want to be “all in”. I want to jump and know that He’s got me. Blessings on your weekend.

  4. Just posted my Five Minute Friday piece and you were the person before me. Loved your piece and the video from your church, then I had to laugh, because I saw that you are from Mesa, AZ. I live in Peoria, AZ! Isn’t that just like God to “introduce” two sisters in Christ from the same state through something as random as a Linky? Pleased to meet you, Sister.

    1. Just read your profile and found that we both have the same first name – only mine is spelled Janice and that we are both writers and authors. How fun is that?’

I love to connect with you.
