IN GOD’S HANDS

In God’s Hands

By Mary Haskett

How do we pray I wondered. My husband and I had received the devastating news that he had terminal cancer. Chemo and radiation were not an option— neither would halt the inevitable.

My husband received the news calmly.  He sat in the clinic room and told the doctor about his faith in the living God and how God could choose to heal him or take him to heaven. He said, “I’m in God’s hands.” (He declared this to all the healthcare people who crossed our path during those last few weeks). The doctor looked at us, and them said, “I see a tremendous peace around you two.” We rejoiced, because the doctor had seen Jesus in us.

Once home we discussed the news and  wept as we hugged each other. We really didn’t want to be parted. Friends and family were informed and the prayer warriors went to the Lord on our behalf.

There were days when my husband seemed so alert and well, I wondered if he had received a healing. Then I saw his tall frame bent and his muscle mass lessen.  We no longer begged and pleaded for healing.  As it says in 1st Peter 5:7, “Casting all your cares upon him; for he careth for you.” So each day we talked to the Lord, telling Him we knew that He knew. We lifted the heavy burden and placed it at His throne. We simply said, Your will be done. My husband, with hands raised, always ended  his prayers by repeating several times, Praise you Jesus. And so it was on November the 5th he was ushered into the presence of his Lord. I believe many more souls will enter into the Kingdom because of my Al’s testimony.
