PRAYING GOD’S PROMISES

Praying God’s Promises

by Jan Cox

One of the exercises I did before heading on my mission trip to Poland this summer was to read and write out God’s promises. From a list of over 80 Scriptures I looked up and copied each one. It turned out to be a powerful experience.

As I wrote each promise I felt God speaking to me. The exercise became a conversation.

For instance:

Romans 8:38-39

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (NIV).

Wow, Lord. Nothing, you mean NO THING can take you away from me? I am yours forever? What an uplifting moment!

Constant
Consistent
Always
Forever

You are here with me.

And then I read:

Hebrews 13: 5-6

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

   “Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

  So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”” (NIV).

He will NEVER leave me – you mean, Lord, never? As in always you will be here with me? And no matter what messes I get into, what troubles befall me – You will always be here.

And that last part – what freedom – What can man do to me? – And the answer is – NO THING.

Because I have God – I am free to live my life His way. Powerful stuff.

Prayer:

We are Yours, Lord. No Thing can keep us apart from You. You will never leave us. Thank you for this promise. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.

I love Robin Mark’s song Behold the Son of God. One verse says:

There is no separation from His love
No pow’r on earth or heights above
Can take us from You Son of God

Beautiful words – powerful meaning. Let’s trust in it and pray in His power.
