Sunday Stillness – Choose Jesus

VBS 2015 – Choose Jesus

It has been a very busy week. My family were visiting and I led a Vacation Bible Camp at our church for the mornings. Needless to say I didn’t have time to reply to the wonderful comments from last Sunday. I did read them and thank you so much. This week it should – (I say should) – be easier to get stuff done.

At our Bible Camp the kids learned 5 important choices

Choose to Believe:
The Blind Man – John 9
Memory Verse – God sent His Son to be the Saviour of the world. (1 John 4:14)
Choose to Act:
The Ten Sick Men – Luke 17:11-19
Memory Verse – Let us love with actions (1john 3:18)
Choose to Forgive:
The Paralyzed Man – Mark 2:1-12
Memory Verse – God will forgive our sins. (1 John 1:9)
Choose to Obey:
The Rich Young Ruler – Luke 18:18-27
Memory Verse – I will obey Your commands. (Psalm 119:
Choose Jesus:
The Disciples – John 20:19-29
Memory Verse – Choose today who you will love and serve. (Joshua 24:15)

They did very well with the memory work. Our presentation on Friday for the parents was fantastic. The kids were terrific.

I bought my VBS from Gospel Light called SonWorld. It was the last one Amazon had and was out-of-date on their website. But it gave me the needed inspiration for stories, great pictures and flannel pictures too. I had to make up my own crafts (except one) as I didn’t find the crafts given to be useful for remembering the lessons.

These are lessons we all need to remember.

I caught a cold on the Wednesday but once again God carried me through. Amazing what strength we can get from Him.

Here is one of the songs they loved and sang at the end of our presentation. Let’s remember these words.

I’m Keeping my eyes on Jesus.

What important points to remember. Especially that we are in Jesus hands and we just need to keep our eyes on Jesus. Great lessons, Janis.

Janis- Bless you for doing the Bible Camp. I am in charge of our church’s VBS this year and I feel your tired 🙂 But I also feel your encouragement. It truly boosts my faith as I teach the gospel to little ones. I’m sure it does so for you, also. Have a great week!

Looks and sounds like it was a very fruitful week at your VBS! I can imagine how proud you must be to have been a part of such a wonderful activity! I always enjoyed going to VBS in the summertime!

      Cheryl,
Except for being tired during the week the excitement of Friday more than made up for that. I heard the children really enjoyed it and that makes me feel even more wonderful.
      Blessings,

VBS! You were seed planting. Hard work but the harvest is amazing. They will have this memory forever. You are a light shining. I’m glad to know you even across in the virtual world. Blessings, ~ Your Chris~

      To my virtual Chris,
Thank you. I have to remember that even with the work being hard the harvest is worth it. I will probably do it again next year – this will be the 5th or 6th year.

      Joanne,
Yes I have used Gospel Light before – SonRocks, Journeys with Jesus, Parable Quest. But this is the first VBS curriculum to purchase. I actually found it overwhelming in amount of stuff. We have a small church – and only 10-15 kids each year – so next year I will use 5 stories and figure out the crafts, games myself. I can even go back to those Gospel Light to figure it out.

      Blessings,
      Janis

      Carol,
That song is now stuck in my head – and I can call it up if I get discouraged. We also did Amy Grant’s If We Believe in God – a lovely song with great words of encouragement.
Working for Him – and only where He wants me.
      Blessings,

      Oh Michele,
Praying for the Holy Spirit to fill your church and for all those working and children attending to be blessed with the teachings and love that is shared. Have a great week and hope to hear all about it.
      Blessings,
      Janis

      Beth,
I found that idea on line as I wanted to end with Choosing Jesus. Each child did their own hand prints on a piece of card stock too, something to take home and remember.
      Thanks and blessings,
      Janis
