Sunday Stillness – How I rely on God

This past month has been one of joy, and “overwhelmness”. I spent the month at my daughter’s awaiting the birth of their second child. I arrived at their house a week early (just in case); then we waited for an extra 10 days until our little granddaughter decided to make her appearance – coming in at 9 pounds 8 ounces. For a grandma, who is retired from the working world but loves working as a writer/artist, it was a busy but fulfilling month.

Last Monday everything fell into place for me to return home to my hubby (who patiently awaited my return). I arrived home and 15 minutes later the skies opened. And I mean opened. I have never seen a rain so heavy. We had a lake in our front yard and back yard. I praised the Lord that He got me home before all that rain fell.

This past week as I prepared to run a Vacation Bible School this week at our church I looked back at the month and thanked God for the strength, the peace and the joy I had visiting my daughter and her family.

Then I thanked Him again – because He put everything in place for VBS. I did not have enough volunteers – and He brought them in. I had no time to advertise and we have more children registered than other years.

And I came down with the achy flu which knocked me out for a day and a half. But things are still falling into place (even this post). Instead of fretting I went to bed – slept, prayed and let my body heal.

I know that God will have all the details figured out for me. I trust in Him alone.

I love Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous runs into it and is safe (NASB).

One of my favourite songs is A Strong Tower – Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

Enjoy this version by Morris Champman.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for being constant, consistent and always with me. Thank You for caring for my family, for preparing everything for VBS, for keeping me calm and reliant on You. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Today is Sunday Stillness.

Special announcement to the people who link. If you wish to be notified that the linky is open please email me at Janis. Due to new legislation in Canada against anti-spam emails we must have permission to email you. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

  1. Congratulations on your granddaughter! Such a joy and blessing! The Lord is really a strong tower – my favourite son as well 🙂

  2. So glad you have a new baby to love on, at last!
Thank you so much for joining our little family at Recommendation Saturday!! <3 Heart Hugs, Shelly

  3. Praise God for His protection, re-energizing, calming and uplifting presence! May He give you peace and productivity in these challenging yet fulfilling times! Thanks for hosting & God bless.

  4. I thank God for everything, Jesus is all in all. I enjoy the presence of God, as He saved me while 17 years. Robbery and alchohol had taken my minds while still young! Jesus pulled me out from them by force, not by my will, but His grace, will, and mercy. I thank God for Janis cox she really inspires me every time, I usually read her article before I go to my Sunday fellowship. Let her be blessed!

I love to connect with you.
