Sunday Stillness – How to Let the Light Shine

Sunday Stillness – How to Let the Light Shine

How-to-let-the-light-shine

I have been at my daughter’s for two weeks now – awaiting the birth of number 2.

Last Sunday I visited a new church. The church celebrated their 10th anniversary. They showed pictures of the members building the church, putting up the walls and painting. It inspired me because there was such love, caring and belief in those that surrounded me.

The children sang “This Little Light of Mine”. Of course, I can’t sing that without doing the motions – so I joined in; shining my light, not hiding in under a bushel; not letting Satan blow it out.

I have had a chance to read some wonderful inspiring posts this week; by reading I feel connected to my fellow believers; I feel the strength, passion and love of Christ through their words.

I started to memorize again. This time I wanted to know the first verses of John. So I began. I read the first verse, then said it over 10 times. I repeated that the next day. Then on to verse 2 – I am now at verse 5.

I thought it very interesting that the words from my memorized verses were in the children’s song this week.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:1-5, NIV).

God speaks through His Word.

He is in constant contact with us.

Enjoy reading the posts that link up here today. They are a joy to me and I am sure they will be a joy to you.

Prayer:

Let Your light shine in our communities, Lord, and in our lives. Help us to be bold to shine for You. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Another great praise and worship song: Light Will Shine sung by Hillsong.

Your light will shine in the darkness
Your light will shine in the dark, in the dark
Woah, we are Yours

Today is Sunday Stillness.

Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

JOIN THE SUNDAY STILLNESS COMMUNITY –
READ OTHER POSTS AND ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER.

Please check out all the places I link to during the week. Thanks to everyone who has joined Sunday Stillness. I do try to get to your posts every week but I admit sometimes I don’t have the time.

  1. I love the Scriptures that talk about light to describe God, as well as His children. So grateful that His light shines in the darkness of this world. Thanks for sharing! Praying all goes well for new mama and baby!

    1. Thanks so much Ann.
Light scripture has always been a favourite image of mine as well. Seeing the Truth; being set free. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord.
      Blessings,
      Janis
