Sunday Stillness – Quiet Moments

Quiet-Moments

A number of years ago (2006) I published my first devotional. I called it Quiet Moments,
published by The Upper Room Devotional.

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation (Psalm 5:3 (NIV).

THE deer’s eyes stared into mine. She did not move except for a gentle twitch of her tail. We watched each other for a while. Then slowly and carefully she turned and walked away. I was captivated with her long, graceful legs and her gentle footsteps. Such beauty, in my own backyard!

I felt God’s presence then — the peace, the gentleness. That’s the way I feel when I talk to God in the quiet of the early morning. I wait, I listen; God comes. As I lay all my thoughts, ideas, worries, and desires before my Creator, God releases me from any anxiety I feel.

To read more follow Quiet Moments.  I encourage you to follow the link and continue reading my thoughts. Comments can be left on the Upper Room website or back here.

Today is Sunday Stillness – take time to relax in God’s presence.

    1. Elizabeth,
I have so many deer pictures – It was a special time though when she stopped and looked right at me. I will remember that moment always. Now if they would only stay out of my gardens. 🙂
      Blessings,
      Janis

    1. Thanks Jason,
Your email for my updating you that Sunday Stillness is open, is still linking to that other alaska one and being bounced back.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  1. A psalmist even uses the deer to portray longing for God: As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirst for God, for the living God.
So amazing that God makes Himself known to us in so many ways.

  2. It is truly a blessing to enter the stillness of His presence! The moment with the deer captures that so well. Thanks for the lovely post and for hosting & God bless!

I love to connect with you.
