Sunday Stillness – What is Belief in Jesus?

This will be my first Sunday in Poland.

Not sure of timing and Internet capabilities so I am posting this before I go away. Please enjoy my post and link to #SundayStillness below.

I love this quote from Oswald Chambers.

Belief in Jesus is a miracle produced only by the effectiveness of redemption, not by impressive speech, nor by wooing and persuading, but only by the sheer unaided power of God. (Oswald Chambers, July 17th).

He talks about being humble of Spirit; of not worrying about how we sound; how to preach by believing in the Holy Spirit to carry you through.

I pray that I can do that during these two weeks while I speak to campers; answer questions; support them in their needs. There should be nothing of me – when I speak the Gospel.

The preacher is there as the representative of God— “. . . as though God were pleading through us . . .” (2 Corinthians 5:20). He is there to present the gospel of God.

When I am asked I pray that God gives me the words He needs me to say. Not my words – but His.

Prayer:

As I head out on the mission field I ask for strength, stamina and good health for the whole team and the campers. May the Holy Spirit fill us so much that our words are not our own. May we be Christ in all we say and do. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Today is Sunday Stillness.

Special announcement to the people who link. If you wish to be notified that the linky is open please email me at Janis. Due to new legislation in Canada against anti-spam emails we must have permission to email you. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

  1. This is beautiful, Janis! I love Oswald Chambers, and especially this quote. Praying for the Holy Spirit to work through you on your Poland mission, and through all who preach the Gospel. Thanks for hosting & God bless!

  2. Jan,

Great O. Chambers quotation — characteristically straight and incisive wisdom from him.
I appreciate what you share in your prayer focus regarding the Poland mission. They are worthy matters to take to God’s throne of grace. I praise God for your dependency on the Holy Spirit’s wisdom and enabling.

Will be thinking of and praying for you and Grace and the team. ~~+~~

I love to connect with you.
