TIME IS FLYING BY

Time is Flying By

by Jan Cox

When you read this I will have 3 more sleeps until I take a plane to England, another one to Berlin and then a drive to Poland.

Yes I am going on another mission trip with International Messengers.

Time is flying by quickly. With God’s help I have put up most of the posts I need before I leave, as I will have no opportunity to be on the Internet while I am away.

Actually no phone, no Internet – no communication with family and friends for 2 whole weeks. We are totally reliant on God and each other.

This is my third trip with International Messengers. It seems that God wants me to look after the children because try as I might that is the “job for me”. And you know what – I really enjoy being with the children. Last week I organized a program at our church so two young people could come and run a vacation Bible school for the week (half days) for children in our community. So I spent 3 hours a day with children 4-12 and had a wonderful time.

Yes, I am looking forward to going. I have a wonderful group of people who are my prayer warriors before, during and after my trip. That is so important – to have people covering me, my family and the whole trip in prayer.

If you feel inclined I would love your prayers, too.

Oswald Chambers says: “The missionary is one in whom the Holy Ghost has wrought this realization – “Ye are not your own.”

So here is the first rule of being a missionary… Ye are not your own… be flexible. This is not easy for me. I am task-oriented, organized and structured. That is fine on this side of the ocean but once I am in Poland I may have to let all those plans fall by the wayside. After two years I have learned – I must try to be flexible.

BACKGROUND:

I attend a family camp, which allows European believers to invite unbelieving neighbours and friends with families to a camp setting where they can work on their English and spend time with their families. This gives these European members a chance to share the Gospel in a comfortable, relaxed setting and also provides them time to interact with their kids. Schedules in Poland, just as in Canada, are busy with some parents working more than one job, so time away with their children is rare and this provides them a unique opportunity to be with their families.

Next week I will tell you a few stories from my past trips. Stay tuned and thanks for your prayers.

Blessings,

Jan

Prayer:

Lord, watch over all the missionaries flying from different parts of Canada and the US to join in the English Family Camp in Poland. Be with Gene and Grace Fox as they travel from Romania to Poland and meet us in Berlin. Be with Pastor Cezary Dabrowski and his family as they travel from Gorzow to our camp site. Safety, please, Lord, for all the campers as they, too, travel to camp. Thanks for being with us, Father. In Jesus’ name. AMEN
