Weak: Five Minute Friday

Weak: Five Minute Friday

Only five minutes to write about my thoughts on the word of the week – which is weak. I set the timer and start writing.

There had been many times that I felt, “I just can’t do” something. That’s when I used to lean on God. I have changed.

Now I lean on Him every minute of the day, because I know I am weak without Him. (tweet this)

I found it amazing when I went on my mission trips to Poland how I could keep going when normally I would have given in and taken a nap.  I found out there was something about walking with God on a mission trip that makes Him all the closer.

Nowadays I think my reasoning goes like this. In most areas I am weak with out God. So why even try to do anything without enlisting His help first. Then I know no matter what I do it will be done well.

I know He likes this – our doing things together. As I set out to paint a picture, read a scripture or write a post I ask Him for help. Then my inspiration and my hands work together without any stress.

In other words I like being weak. I like having Jesus as my partner.(click to tweet)

Jesus said:

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly (Matthew 11:28-30, The Message).”

Once again I am reminded of Allen Arnold’s new book, The Story of With. That’s the way I think our lives are meant to be – with God, then we will never be weak.

Time’s up. It’s your turn. You can write for five minutes and join us at Kate Motaung’s Five Minute Fridays or you can go over and read many wonderful posts on the word WEAK.

  1. I’m late in the game at reading this. God knows I’m weak.
“I know He likes this – our doing things together.” Those words melted my heart. I’m going to put these words in my office, as a good reminder, “He likes our doing things together.”

  2. Thanks for these great words and the wonderful reminder of how much we need the Lord. I am so weak and yet, He sustains me every day. Thanks for sharing on Grace and Truth this week.

  3. So true, Janis. I often say that I need to rely on the Lord when I’m weak, but as soon as I say that I think to myself, “well, in what area am I really strong?” So like the song goes, “I need thee every hour!”

  4. Great words here! So often we can see weakness as a negative thing but when it makes us turn to God it can be positive. I love the thought of doing things together with God and choosing to look to him for strength in every situation. I definitely want to get better at putting this into practice. Visiting from FMF.

    1. Hi Lesley,
Thanks for dropping in. Yes we have to remember that we live in a backwards world. What the world views as right we might not. And being weak is one of those things. I love calling on the Lord for everything I do.
      Blessings,
      Janis

I love to connect with you.
