WEDNESDAY’S WORD – Strength

Wednesday’s Word – Strength

Rock - Psalm 18

Oh I have not had any of my own strength in the past week. With allergy season kicking in; with my head filled with ideas and keeping me awake; with my hubby snoring – well sometimes I feel rather blah.

But – and there is a big but.

I don’t have to do anything in my own strength. Tweet this.

Here are three examples from the past week.

Last Tuesday I had an interview with Robert White on FaithFM Radio. The call was at  at 6:15 am (time change made it 1 hour earlier than I had expected). And I had not slept that night – allergies and snoring husband. I arose at 5am. A prayed and studied. I had a shower to wake me up a little more.

I am not sure how I did but I know I felt God’s spirit strongly as I spoke. The prayers of my prayer team were also holding me up. God is able even though I am not.

The Results:

1. I had my first interview and got through it.
2. I actually enjoyed it even though I felt nervous.
3. Someone on Facebook said he heard “an awesome interview from Janis Cox”.

On Saturday I had a table at a small Arts and Crafts Fair in my community – to sell Tadeo Turtle. I did not sleep the night before (allergy and snoring of hubby; excitement and too much on my mind). However, I got up at 6am as I always do – studied and prayed. I felt the Lord’s presence and an infusion of energy. Off to the show I went:

The Results:

1. My nose seemed okay the whole time. (allergies under control)
2. I stood for 6 hours and was able to smile, laugh and sell lots of books.
3. When I returned home – I had a nap. Yes I was tired but elated that God had pulled off this miracle.

On Sunday I was to be the storyteller for 2 services at Sunday School. Of course with these allergies I did not sleep well once again. Up again at 6am I prayed and studied. Renewed with His Presence I went off to church. My hubby was praying for me.

The Results:

1. The kids were very attentive.
2. I enjoyed myself thoroughly.
3. I had lots of energy to sing and dance with them as well as tell the story and have them act the story out in a play.

So I know for sure – for sure – that God is my strength. Tweet this.

“I love you, Lord, my strength.

 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:1-2, NIV).

Here is Chris Tomlin singing one of my favourites. Everlasting God.

These words speak to me:

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

  1. What beautiful examples of strength through God. I have been needing that strength and relying on Him greatly lately… and it’s important to know just how critical that our reliance is to our relationship with Him.

Thank you for blessing me (and others with your beautiful words).

  2. Thank you for the encouragement!! I am so blessed that you are a sister in the Lord and that we can work alongside of each other for our King! I have not yet invited you to share on the ‘Encourage One Another’ Wednesday Link-up, so I will right now…it would be a delight if you would share every week a post or posts. This is exactly what I had in mind to bless others and build a community of believing women, but it takes time 🙂
    Thank you for hostessing!

    1. You are most welcome. I love encouragement too – and it is great to meet you. Let’s do that – work together to build up God’s people. I would love to get to know you better.
I would love to share in your link up and am making a note right now.
YES – it takes time, patience and God’s work – He will do it, if we pray for Him to do this.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  3. Love that through it all you persevered and trusted…. That’s inspiring to me. And the rewards – They are usually there if we look. So glad you looked and even celebrated the finds! Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Falen,
it was amazing that I was able to give it to God and watch Him work. If only we could think that way all the time. Celebrating as I continue to do this.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  4. Janis, congratulations on your radio interview… very cool! Psalm18:1,2 is so powerful. Just knowing that when I can’t… He absolutely can! Thanks for illustrating His loving strength as you’ve moved with Him through your week… very encouraging!
    Blessings to you ~ Mary

    1. Mary,
At least that interview is under my belt. And I agree with the power of this Scripture. He is immeasurably more able than me.
      Blessings,
      Janis

  5. That’s one of my favourite verses – I need to remember it more! 🙂 Thanks for sharing how God has given you strength through these times. (It was fun to see your name at the Cozy Book Hop!)

  6. Indeed, His strength is manifested in our weakness. Thanks for sharing Janis. I can relate to you with my allergies. I’d love for you to come link up at HomeEducatorMom.

  7. Love, love, love this. And as it’s a busy week and I am under the weather too I will be carrying this with me. I love our God who is more than able and can do the amazing when we let Him. Thank you! I needed this today. 🙂

  8. Congratulations on your first interview, Janis! How exciting. These words encourage me tremendously. We’ve been under-the-weather at our house too–so much going around. I have needed to draw on a Bigger strength too. Good words, friend.

  9. So grateful that we know we can find strength from the Lord right when we need it! Such beautiful examples that you have experienced of finding strength, in spite of your lack of sleep at night! The Lord provides!
