Do You Know Any Wandering Sheep?

Do you know any wandering sheep?

Do you have wandering sheep in your family, among your friends, sheep that once knew the Master’s voice and followed when He called? I do. Now those sheep have strayed far, far away blocking out the call of the Holy Lamb of God. Foolishly they have chased after the false gods of this world, and believe they need Him no more.

When I think about this I’m reminded of Paul’s admonition to the Galatians. Do you recall? He wrote:-

“You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?

Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to gain your goal by human effort” (Galatians 3:1-3 NIV)?

Paul might just as well be addressing his remarks to our wandering family and friends today. The same false beliefs are prevalent not only among them, but among society as a whole. The belief is that man can right all that is wrong in our world. Oh foolish man!

But there is a way back for the wandering sheep and praise God we can take an active part in their return. If we stay focused in prayer, knowing God hears our cries for them, He will, through the Holy Spirit bring them back into the fold. I’ve written about “the fold” before. Don’t you think it’s a lovely thought, visualizing Jesus, the good shepherd, shepherding them back?

“He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young” (Isaiah 40:11, NIV).

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to be faithful to keep our loved ones under the cover of prayer and believe that You in Your time will return our wandering sheep back to the fold.
