Sunday Stillness – Luke 8:17
For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open (Luke 8:17, NIV).
God knows it all. Why do we try to hide? This Kingfisher uses camouflage to hide in the bushes. It is a safety measure. If we are not to fear, then we do not need to hide.
This year let’s be more open to God. Let’s be more open to our Christian friends. Let’s share the struggles and the joy in the midst of the struggles.
Many blessings for the New Year. Hope to continue to write for Him.

Today is Sunday Stillness.
Do you have a Scripture that spoke to you this week? Please link below. If you post to Twitter use #sundaystillness and @authorjaniscox.
Feel free to pin the picture. Follow me at AuthorJanisCox on Pinterest.
I would love it if you would subscribe to my blog. See the sidebar to enter your email address. And Subscribe to my new Newsletter. That would be great.
Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.
I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

What a great verse to go with this picture! The bird is almost camouflaged, but like with the Lord, cannot be hidden! Love this…”This year, let’s be more open to God…” May we all take this to heart! Blessings to you!
Ann @ Christ in the Clouds
Thanks Ann, There is quite the story to go with this watercolour. It is a batik and I used the wrong marker so it bled; I had to go over with more wax; then go against the “rules” and paint after it was done.
Blessings,
Janis
The image is gorgeous and compliments the scripture so well. No half stepping, no hiding. Authentic and transparent. This is the hope. Thanks for sharing and Happy Ne Year Janis! I’m your neighbor at The Weekend Brew!
Thanks for commenting. Yes we need to be open and transparent before God.
Blessings,
Janis
I LOVED this artwork. You are a real treat! Thank you for your creativity. Wish I could be, too! Oh, well…
Joann,
Thank you. You inspire me to continue.
Blessings,
Janis
Your art is so beautiful, Janis! It is true that everything is visible for God, He knows all things – it’s also a relief, knowing there is no reason to hide things … let us be more open, an share – encourage and be engouraged! Wishing you a Happy and Blessed New Year!
Nina,
Openness is something I had to learn. I had barricaded myself up from others and from God. God helped me become more authentic to Him and others.
Blessings,
Janis
Thank you for sharing the story of the Kingfisher! This stunning watercolor drew me right in, and now I see this carefully paired verse with fresh eyes.
Your post speaks to a Psalm I’ve been studying: “O Lord, you have searched me thoroughly and have known me. You know my downsitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off…You are acquainted with all my ways…. Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.” (Psalm 139:1-3,7-8.)
God bless you this New Year, Janis. Thank you for the challenge to live authentically before the Lord and others, in good times and bad.

Thank you so much. I love the verse you have given as well – He knows us… so awesome.
Blessings,
Janis
Praise God I don’t hide from Him any longer. He knows me full well, and I rejoice that even with all He knows He still loves me unconditionally. Where can I go but to Him? Thanks, Janis, for hosting. May God’s grace and love surround you in 2014.
Hi Nancy,
I hid from Him too. At least I thought I was hiding. But really we are not. I am open to Him and listen to what He tells me.
Blessings,
Janis
Dear Janis
I think transparency is essential to having an intimate relationship with Jesus. Like a bride that sheds all her clothes for her groom on their wedding night, we need to shed all ours.
Blessings XX
Mia
Agreed Mia,
As soon as I was transparent before the Lord He started to speak to me and I started to listen to Him. Praise Him for His faithfulness and patience.
Blessings,
Janis
Praise God that His perfect love casts out fear, and that His light shines through all darkness! Thanks for the lovely post & for hosting, & may you have a blessed New Year!
Laurie,
As soon as you said, Light shines in the darkness, that reminds me of the song. His Light will shine in the darkness, oh oh oh, by Hillsong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru9FMKZKeoo
