A Voice from God?
For the past two weeks (Another Factor in Conversation and Listen – Part 2) I have been talking about listening to God – by not talking. During the quiet time that I spend with God I feel a blessed peace in my heart. Sometimes I have felt a stirring in my soul to pray for someone. Other times I have thoughts of ideas, even new ideas for writing. I find more ideas come to me after reading a Scripture and running those words around in my head.
But one time I had a most incredible experience. It was a time of great upheaval in my life. I was trying to make a major decision. I felt angry and hurt but wasn’t sure if I was to stay the course or make major changes.
While praying and laying all my thoughts, and frustrations before the Lord (blabbing on and on…) I stopped and listened. I then heard (and I know that many of you will think I am crazy) but I heard a voice – it was powerful and strong – one of authority. It said, “MARCHING ORDERS”.
That was it – nothing more. I did not feel any fear upon hearing the voice. But, I did know that my prayers had been answered and in a very definite way.
If I had not prayed and not listened.. would I have heard Him? I don’t think so.
I love this Scripture:
“but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,
and who meditates on his law day and night” (Psalm 1:2).
I believe God meant us to listen for Him. Read, study, pray and listen.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for listening to us but also thank You for talking to us through Your Word, through others and even speaking directly through our hearts (sometimes audibly). Continue to teach us and guide us. In Jesus’ name. AMEN
