Five Minute Friday – Beautiful

Five Minute Friday – Beautiful

Taking just 5 minutes before I head out to work at the Pregnancy Care Centre in our town to write on the word – beautiful.

Beautiful friends in Poland

This scripture immediately came to mind:

And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:15, MSG).

I have been a short-term missionary for International Messengers for 2 weeks, each of the past 4 summers. I participated in an Evangelical English Camp, where we teach English but also show the love of Christ.

The first words I saw in 2007 when I asked for an application were these from Romans 10:15:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (NIV).

This summer I am not going on the trip (many reasons) but I know I will miss seeing the beauty of God in action. That’s what happens on a mission trip. We leave behind safety, family and regular routines – instead we go and follow where God leads. It is exciting, adventurous but very beautiful.

Indescribable – that’s what I would say in how people learn to trust in Jesus. Lives are changed – both the campers and the missionaries. We will never be the same.

I will never be the same. (click to tweet this)

Time’s up.

Have you gone on a mission trip? What were your feelings?
How did you grow in your faith?

The words: I will never be the Same reminded me of this praise song-

“For All You’ve done” by Hillsong

My Saviour, Redeemer
Lifted me from the miry clay
Almighty forever
I will never be the same

‘Cause You came near
From the everlasting
To the world we live
The Father’s only Son

You lived and You died
You rose again on high
You opened the way
For the world to live again
Hallelujah
For all You’ve done

Hallelujah
For all You’ve done

  1. Dear Janis
Yes, sharing the good news of Jesus is so amazing that it cannot do anything else but change your life. What a joy when we see someone else coming to Him as well.
    Blessings

  2. Thank you for sharing the verse from Romans, Janis. A lovely post on the word beautiful. I will actually be heading to Guatemala in a couple weeks on my first mission trip. I can’t wait to see how God uses our team on this trip to “bring glad tidings of good things!” Blessings to you.

  3. I love that you talk about ‘the beauty of God in action.’ More and more over the past 5 years as a missionary in Africa I’ve come to see it this way, that His plans and purposes and the way He moves in the world are absolutely a thing of beauty. Thank you for that reminder today!

I love to connect with you.
