Sunday Stillness – A Joint Service in the Park
I am sure you are like me – so much to do during the summer, but all good. Between family visits, gardening, picking vegetables, boating, and walks, there isn’t much time for the computer. And that’s probably a good thing. We need to get out and enjoy this fantastic summer weather – it is brief here in Canada.
This Sunday all of our protestant churches in our small town will get together in the park for a Sizzlin’ Summer Service. This is our 8th season. Each of the pastors/ministers takes part – music, children’s story, message, and I can’t remember what else. Each church also has a job. We pray for good weather and as far as I can remember we have only been inside one year. We have five churches involved (as I said we live in a small town).
Praying that everyone is enjoying their times with family and friends in the out-of-doors.
Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!
1 Corinthians 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
This joint service with the churches might seem unusual to you but we are a part of the town family. I love this hymn “Part of the Family”. Let’s join together in unity and praise the Lord.

Five churches is pretty good for a small town!
Yes it is! I thought so too. And I believe as we work together in unity it builds a better foundation so others may seek the Lord.
Blessings,
Janis
We live pretty close to Canada – yesterday was gorgeous-beautiful. I’m trying to soak up this season as much as I can, so maybe I’ll be able to pull it out and put it on when winter comes. Your post reminds me of the church services we used to go to near my parent’s home in Indiana. Small towns can be such good examples of hospitality and fellowship. I hope your summer lasts exactly as long as you want it to… 🙂
Janet,
Thank you . Yes I love our small town. We have so much love, caring and learning together. The churches are involved in a food bank, a thrift store, a pregnancy centre, afterschool programs, summer activities and a new charity called HASP – Haliburton Assistance for Single Parents. A great group of Christians working together.
Blessings,
Janis
Thank you for hosting!
Love a community service! The small town we used to pastor in did that for Easter Week, it was great having the different denominations UNITE together. Blessings Janis!
Nannette,
Yes the word is UNITE. We let go of our differences and focus on Jesus – praising Him together. Just love it.
Blessings,
Janis
Oh Janis, the joint service sounds wonderful. I have no doubt you’ll ALL be blessed!!
Cheryl,
Truly a blessed day – Sunny skies, a breeze, family, and brothers and sisters in Christ. What more could I want!
Blessings,
Janis
What a wonderful thing, to gather with other believers in your town.
Elizabeth,
I can’t believe it has been running for 8 summers. I have missed so many as I used to travel to Poland on a mission trip – 5 of those 8. So I felt truly blessed to be able to attend and bonus – with my daughter, her hubby and my grandkids.
Blessings
Janis
Enjoy the celebration! It is truly a blessing to be part of the family of God! Thanks for hosting & God bless.
Laurie,
I did enjoy the entire morning – with my grandchildren, listening and worshipping together with all those churches.
Blessings,
Janis
Janis, I love it when the body of Christ comes together. It’s such a testimony to others, and it so uplifting to get to know each other!
Michele,
I think the whole town notices that we worship together and isn’t that a great way to glorify God.
Blessings,
Janis
Amen.
That’s so great! Have a wonderful service. Blessings to you all, Janis. 🙂
Thanks Jason,
We did have a wonderful service. I even drew a picture for Creative Tuesdays and put some Youtube songs on my post.
Blessings,
Janis
