Wednesday’s Word – Rock

Rock - Psalm 18

Picture taken in Czech Republic

Sometimes I wonder how I get the energy to do all that I do – then I remember, God does it. I rest in Him. He is my Rock.

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand” (Psalm 40:2, NIV).

So many times I feel like I am slipping – with tiredness, with lack of focus, and sometimes just in a fog. Then I remember – He is my Rock. And I say to myself:

He set my feet upon a Rock. I can stand up;
I can stand firm; I will not fall.

Sarah Young in Jesus Calling says this:

“To get your mind back in gear, just turn toward Me, bringing yourself and your problems into My Presence” (April 9).

When the going gets tough I realize I have slipped off that rock and I must conscientiously climb back up – focus on Jesus and let Him do the rest.

And I love the song Jesus is the Rock of my salvation, His Banner over Me is love by the Cedarmont Kids.

Look at the leading words to each verse:

The Lord is mine and I am His

He brought me to His banqueting table

He lifted me up into heavenly places

He is the vine and we are the branches

Jesus is the Rock of my salvation

There’s one way to peace through the power of the cross

And a final Scripture that sums it up:

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39, NIV).

Each Wednesday we hold a Wednesday’s Word Community. Please check the rules of Wednesday’s Word if you are here for the first time. Feel free to add your link below about God’s Word. And we all love comments.
