Why Pray? Part 3
For the past 2 weeks I have been asking the question: “How do we know God hears and answers our prayers?
First I talked about how God CAN answer our prayers. Next I talked about why God WANTS to answer our prayers.
Today I want to look at why He answers our prayers.
I believe God has a wonderful plan. Paul tells the people of Colossae:
“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him [Jesus], and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross” (Colossians 1:19,20).
If God wants to reconcile us to Himself – He wants a connection. His plan is to have that connection, that reuniting with Himself. Here on earth prayer is that connection.
In His word Jesus teaches us how and why to pray. In Luke we read the word “pray” in one form or another 24 times.
“The point of asking is that you may get to know God better.” – Oswald Chambers, author of My Utmost for His Highest.
“Prayer turns ordinary mortals into men of power. It brings power. It brings fire. It brings rain. It brings life. It brings God.” – Samuel Chadwick
That’s what I feel about prayer. It does bring life. When Jesus enters our lives, we become fully alive. If we keep that connection through prayer, we stay fully alive.
So if your prayer life has been suffering this is a great time to start strengthening your connection with the Father, through Jesus. Let’s see what happens when more people start to pray – let’s become men and women of power.

Father, thank you for giving us Jesus as our connection to you. I am praying for others to want this connection, too. In Jesus’ name.
