Are you hearing from God?
Fall has arrived and we snowbirds have flown south to Arizona. After an extremely busy summer I have spent this past week relaxing and trying to listen to God’s voice.
How often do you listen to God’s voice?
Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending a retreat in the mountains up in Pine Arizona with my Bible study group called The Bible Babes. We had a wonderful weekend and it certainly helped me adjust and get through jet lag.
Now I am ready to see where God will lead me. Our group is finishing a Bible study by Beth Moore called Living Beyond Yourself. This past week we studied “gentleness”. It was a great lesson to review the concept of living like Jesus.
Here are some wonderful statements from her study:
- Gentleness is responsibility with power.
- Gentleness is riding the wind of God’s will and setting sail toward the remote island of intimacy.
- Allow Jesus to comb out the tangles of your life until you are free.
- Physical posture can have a great impact on spiritual stature. (don’t forget to kneel!)
- To miss God’s Word in our circumstances is to miss God.
- God’s teachers are bound to God’s opinion, the only one which truly matters.
- Only God’s Word is the absolute truth! Only God’s Word can sanctify believers.
- God’s teacher is the vessel while God’s Word packs the punch.
As we come together today let’s remember to be gentle towards others and towards ourselves. Let’s remember to study God’s Word and pray. This is one way we can hear from God.
Today is Sunday Stillness.

I love Beth Moore and how she relates her teachings to every day events, like brushing your hair. Don’t think I have done this study. Maybe I will. Thanks, as usual, for hosting, Janis
Love Beth Moore and the subject of “gentleness” is always relevant to me, since it’s often not my natural tendency, Janis. Thanks for hosting and I’m so glad you got to have some soul sister time with the Bible Babes! 😉
This is one of my favorite statements you shared, “Physical posture can have a great impact on spiritual stature. (don’t forget to kneel!)”. Our posture, in relation to our response to the Lord is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of how we approach him. Having not just our body position, but our heart position.
Thanks for the sweet invite to visit Sunday Stillness!
Blessings!

Dawn,
Thanks for linking and for your comment. Yes I always try to turn my head, tune my mind, and remember Who is Lord.
Blessings,
Janis
Janis, Living Beyond Yourself, is probably one of my favorites of Beth Moore’s. But then I might say that about each of her studies 🙂 But there was so much to be gleaned & applied in both a spiritual & practical manner packed into those pages. I quoted from a different writing of hers this morning 🙂 May you have a blessed Sunday & thank you for hosting so faithfully each week!
I am sorry I missed the first 8 lessons. But happy to be doing the last 2.
Blessings to you,
Janis
I love the emphasis on gentleness.
Oh that we would always remember that lesson, especially to those we forget.. our families.
Blessings,
janis
God’s Word is our authority and we must accept it as our truth. Thank you for your invitation to enter your lovely blog Party and for hosting.
Hazel,
Thanks for linking and we had another sermon today on truth. And the truth will set us free.
Blessings,
Janis
What a blessing to be in this great study, and also to get to winter where it’s warm!
Elizabeth,
I appreciate the blessing of warmth. And for God’s leading to everything, and every place.
Blessings to you,
Janis
Sounds like a wonderful retreat & Bible study! May we be yielded vessels carrying His Word and sharing it with others. Thanks for hosting & God bless!
Laurie,
How God led me to these Bible Babes is a story in itself. And yes let’s continue to get His Word out and teach how we can all learn from His Book the Bible.
Blessings,
Janis
