Sunday Stillness – 1 Thessalonians 5:8

This week my grandchildren attended a Vacation Bible School. One day they came home wearing shields. I had read recently in Jesus Calling about hope and putting faith and love on as a breastplate. I forgot to take a picture of their shields. The church used Group Publishing’s Kingdom Rock VBS. The gym was decorated with a draw bridge entrance and  unique barrier chains. The kids had a great time.

One of the songs my granddaughter really liked is Stand Together. Since it has some Celtic music I can see her heritage coming through (my Dad was born in Ireland).

Today is Sunday Stillness.

Do you have a Scripture that spoke to you this week? Please link below. If you post to Twitter use #sundaystillness and @authorjaniscox.

I would love it if you would subscribe to my blog. See the sidebar to enter your email address.

Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

  1. I try to make it a practice to put on the whole armor of God daily. I love how He protects us! Thank you for sharing at The Weekend Brew.

  2. Hi Janis (smile), I loved the photo of the shield but it was the verse that touched me even more. When I think about putting on the breastplate–I think of the armor of God in Ephesians. It really hit me to think that LOVE is a breastplate that protects us from the enemy’s attacks. It guards our hearts as well–what we hold in there.
    Beautiful thoughts.
    Blessings,
    Janis

Yes I thought the verse very special too. And LOVE is the most important. As we think of His commandments – Love God; love your neighbour. Isn’t it all about that?
      Blessings,
      Janis

  3. this song is infectious! My children were unable to attend VBS this year and have missed learning really cool and fun songs in celebration of Him. thank you for this! stopping by from The Sunday Community!

  4. I couldn’t help but be reminded when I looked at the photo you included in this post about how protective Faith and Love are, especially of our hearts.

  5. What a great song! My husband plays Irish music so we hear lots of that around our home. Thanks for sharing, Janis! Blessings to you. Love, Rachael

  6. Dear Janis
I was just thinking the other dat how our Lord Jesus offers Himself as just about our everything. He is our breastplate of righteousness, our helmet of salvation, our sword who is His Spirit! Just amazing.
    Blessings XX

  7. Oh what a lovely picture and Scripture. My grandkids and I are going to be working on medieval projects for their homeschooling projects. I also want to incorporate the passage about the spiritual armor and this will be a grand picture to share with them. Thank you. 🙂

  8. I love the visual of putting on armor for God! Our first year homeschooling we made shields…perhaps we’ll do it again this year! Have a blessed Sunday, Janis!

I love to connect with you.
