At our church we have a song we sing at the end of most services called “Go Now in Peace”.
That is so important – to remain at peace – even in the middle of a storm.
In a few weeks our little town will have the privilege to hear Carol Kent speak. Her story is heartbreaking but filled with grace.
“Carol and Gene Kent’s son, Jason, was a young man with a promising future. But one day, Carol and Gene received a phone call in the middle of the night—their only child had been arrested for murder. The Kents will share their heartbreaking story and reveal how, when seemingly insurmountable challenges crash into our lives, we can be transformed as we discover God at work in ways we never imagined.”
When I listened to her story it reminded me of Ann Voskamp’s book One Thousand Gifts and her word Eucharisteo – thanking God in all situations. Counting blessings – even the hard ones. That is what started me on counting gifts.
Carol’s story can be found on the Internet. Take time and listen.
“The real meaning of Eternal Life is a life that can face anything it has to face without wavering.”
This story is proof of that statement.
Carol will be speaking in Haliburton on Wednesday, June 6 at 7 pm. All are welcome – men and women. It will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church on Park St. If you are interested, tickets can be ordered on line. Cost $10.00 per person. To Order.
If you are from out-of-town, bring a group to Haliburton. We have many lovely Bed and Breakfasts to choose from and a few motels.
Here are the words to the song we sing each Sunday.
Go now in peace, never be afraid God will go with you each hour of ev’ry day Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true Know God will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see. God will there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith and in love.
Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for being with us in all circumstances. Even though we don’t know the reason for those circumstances we trust and believe that You do have a plan for us. During those times provide us with the comfort, strength and wisdom we need along with the peace that passes understanding. In the precious name of Jesus. AMEN.
