My Own Five-Minute Friday
ADVENT – Peace
Since Lisa Jo is taking off December I decided to continue to write for five minutes on Fridays.
For December I chose the word Advent. Last week was HOPE.
This week is PEACE.
I had a peaceful week. I contacted the flu. That made for easy days. Sleeping, resting, reading. I liked it. But I am now ready to get back to work. Fully rested.
The peace I enjoy the most is my morning time with God. After morning prayers I spend 15 – 30 minutes just “resting” in His Presence. I have learned to shut out the clatter in my brain and find Him. It is a discipline and takes practice. When I can’t do this I realize there is something blocking me. I have to figure out what that is. It might be things on my mind that I have to release to the Lord. It might be stuff I think I need to do (this happens frequently). Or just nervous tension and excitement.
Focussing on Jesus really helps. I repeat – Come, Jesus, Come. I wait and I breathe. If thoughts creep in, I repeat those words.
I am enjoying Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. The words speak right into my heart and soul.
Words from this morning’s reading:
“Rest in Me, My child, forgetting about the worries of the world.”
God sent Jesus to show us peace – peace in God.
“Focus on Me – Immanuel – and let My living Presence envelop you in Peace.”
Heading toward Christmas, let us remember to seek Him, the One who brought us Peace.
How do you find His Peace?
