How to Enjoy the Journey with God

Enjoy the Journey

Your life is devoted to Me,
Yet so often you struggle to know My will.
Following Me isn’t complicated.

Simply bask in My love.

Others will recognize you have been with Me.
Keep to My path and My way.
Remember not to get caught up with only the concerns
and affairs of this life.

Your journey is much greater.

Follow Me!

Set your sights on My heavenly home
and away from your worries.

Enjoy the road I have set before you.

One of the Bible verses I memorized as a child is:

King James Version:

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Psalms 119:105, KJV).

And these verses speak to me as well:

Guide me down the road of your commandments; I love traveling this freeway! Give me a bent for your words of wisdom, and not for piling up loot. Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets, invigorate me on this pilgrim way (Psalm 119:33-40, The Message)

Now listen, you who say, “ Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes (James 4:13-14, NIV).

Although God’s way is not the rose garden some people imagine, it truly is best. Many of us have known a life for a few years without God being Lord and Master, we know we never want to be without Him again. He truly is love and peace.

Do We Enter His Gates with Praise?

Do We Enter His Gates with Praise?

by Rose Spillenaar Harmer

English: The gates to St Deiniol's church, Haw...

I love you dearly!

I know how much you love hearing of my love each day.

It is the same in the throne room of God.
Your praises and love are like perfume in our courts.

We receive many petitions and requests each day.

But, many people have not chosen to “enter into my gates
with thanksgiving and into my courts with praise.”

Remembering to be thankful and loving is the key.

If you practice this formula in your daily interactions,
you will find relationships grow sweeter and richer.

Let’s read:

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him and bless his name. For the Lord is good: his mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth to all generation (Psalm 100:4-5, KJV).

Many years ago, when I read the book “The Hour That Changes the World,” by Dick Eastman, I determined to always begin daily devotions by praising God for who He is.

HOW DOES GOD SAY, “I WILL HELP YOU?”

How Does God Say, “I Will Help You”?

Why Do We Pray?

Reading Psalms 139:13-14 (NLT) is amazing:

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it.”

Of course I will help you.
Do not be afraid for I am your true strength.
You draw wisdom, understanding and knowledge from this hour with Me.

It is a quiet understanding that I will help you with all things,
Because I love and care for you
I will give you courage and boldness.

Remember the old adage ‘there are no stupid questions’.
It is only when you neglect to ask Me or others that
you stop growing and learning.

I know you feel comfortable with Me because we have had
a meaningful relationship for many, many years.

The times we walk and talk together are precious to Me.
I know you wonder how that can be since I am King of all kings.

However, I am the God who fashioned you in your mother’s womb,
and knows your inner thoughts and needs.

I love you, My precious child.

Sometimes, it is hard for me to comprehend that God truly is interested in everything we do!! Yet, He does care and wants to help us accomplish those tasks he planned for us to do.

Each day as I talk to God about even trivial concerns,
He helps me choose a better perspective. (tweet this)

Since we live in small places, it sometimes is difficult to entertain guests easily and I often feel stressed.

Yet one time, in the midst of a situation, God directed me to a scripture 1 Peter 4:8, 9 (NLT):

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay”.

Reminders , such as this scripture from the Lord, are very wonderful as they encourage rather than discourage us and assist us in learning His way of living lovingly and peacefully.

REST

Rest

by Rose Harmer

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”  (Matthew 11:28-30 NIV).

For many years I have followed a pattern in my devotions of praising God for who he is, requesting his forgiveness or help, and then simply being still and listening as his Holy Spirit speaks in a still, small, inaudible voice to my heart, writing out those precious words and pondering them throughout my day.  The following is one of these “listening”.

Yes, my child, I have much to teach you.
Do not despair; you learned a valuable lesson yesterday which is to rest.
You know you are too busy and place too much stress on your mind and body. The stress has brought about the pain in your chest, the heart appointments and various ailments.

I never intended you to take on the heavy loads.
Perhaps now you are willing to take my yoke which is easy and my light burdens.
Trust in Me and allow My delight and joy in your days.

His commands are so loving and gentle, it is easy to learn his ways when we study his word and take the time to be still and listen.
