Hope Stream Radio Podcast – Change is on the Horizon for 2016
On this week’s podcast I talk about change and how we are called to change while God stays unchangeable. Change is on the horizon.

Change is on the Horizon – Podcast for Hope Stream Radio
Each day we walk our little dog Snowball around the man-made lakes in Arizona. As she sniffs and runs, sometimes she will suddenly stop and stare. It takes us a few seconds to see why. One time a Christmas tree had been put out for the garbage lying on the sidewalk where she would walk. Another time there were chairs out on a porch where before the porch had been empty. Snowball notices changes. She is secure in her little world and reacts quite strongly to new situations or circumstances.
As we head in to 2016 I think about change. Are we ready to adapt to changes? Am I able to transition from where I am now to where God wants me to be this time next year?
This year I have chosen the word abound – abound to me is filled with change. It means planning but it also means listening to the Holy Spirit.
I made an acronym for the word PLAN
– P – is for prayer – prayer is so essential to everything we do.
L – is for listening. If we pray and only talk and don’t listen we are not getting full communication with God.
A – is to Act – When I do hear from God, and He tells me to do something, I had better ACT. There are many stories of people in the Bible who act and those who don’t. When we say we “can’t” do something, God comes back with the answer, “no –but I can”.
Finally in my acronym I have the letter N – to me that means Never stop. Never stop praying, never stop listening and never stop acting. And then repeat the PLA over and over again.
This week our memory work scripture is from Hebrews 1:10-11.
“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
12 You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
and your years will never end.”[a]
It reminds me that God never changes. I am the one who will change.
I have been reading AW Tozer. In his book, Pursuit of God. He says:
Much of our difficulty as seeking Christians stems from our unwillingness to take God as He is and adjust our lives accordingly.
Do you feel sometimes like you are stuck in a rut? You are doing the same things over and over but getting no traction. I would suggest you try my PLAN method. Spend time with God in prayer. Study His Word. Listen to what He is telling you through prayer, through His Word, through other people, through circumstances. Then ACT – make the decision not to let fear, or inability stop you. Do it because you know He can act with you to make it happen.
God does not change. I need to remember that. I can find everything I need to know about Him and His character from His Word. But I need to work at it. I need to adjust my life so I can learn more about Him, listen to Him and act when He speaks.
May I pray for you and me,
Father God, we know you are unchangeable. We know that we must change to know you more. Help us to make the changes necessary to glorify you, to help others and to strengthen our belief in You. Change isn’t easy. Please be close to us as we strive to do Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Until next time I hope you have found your word for this year. And I hope you know what changes are necessary for you to achieve where you believe God wants you to go. Remember to be in His Word.
