How do I know that God wants to hear my prayers? (Part 2)
by Janis Cox
Last week I talked about the reason I feel that God does hear our prayers. That reason was God’s POWER. He CAN.
Today I want to talk about why he wants to hear our prayers.
I think that He wants to hear our prayers because of His abundant love and grace. We have a God who loves us so much that He made a way for us to connect personally with Him, through His Son, Jesus.
Isn’t that amazing love?
The Cross demonstrates to us how much God willingly gave up for us so we can communicate with Him and He with us. “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 NIV).
We want to be able to “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge” (Ephesians 3:18,19 NIV).
I know that He is my Heavenly Father because of His love. How can I NOT talk to Him if He loves me this much? “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9 NIV)
His LOVE is another reason that I know my prayers are important to Him. He wants me to talk with Him (pray); He wants to hear me; He wants to answer my prayers but only as far as He know what is BEST.
My Gratitude List for this week:
- My Mom who taught me to care for others
- My sister whose capacity to give of herself is extraordinary
- Friends who like the REAL me
- Women in my Bible study in Arizona
- Water – whenever I want it
- Connections by Internet with my kids
- Birds at the feeder
Prayer:
Father, I know you WANT me to talk to you. I know you love me with an unending love. Help me to keep this communication open between us. In Jesus’ name. AMEN
