Hot and Cold
Today I am trying a poetry form called quadrille (44 words). The prompt is “gather”. My poem is called “Hot and Cold”. I am joining Dverse – Poets Pub.
Springtime in the country. After a big snowstorm last weekend we had beautiful sunshine. Glorious time. We are still waiting for the snow to melt but hopefully not too quickly so we don’t have floods.
My post is short and sweet today.
Hot and Cold
To gather – the intent
All the family together
But grandma got sick
There were no hugs for her
Kids made meals
Grandkids made grandma laugh
She watched as they played in sun and snow
A mixture of hot and cold
Exactly how grandma felt
“See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come (Song of Solomon 2:11-12, NIV).”

Hey welcome Janis! Lovely poem!
Mary,
You found me. I will go and find your poem on line. Thanks. Haven’t written in poetry form for awhile. I found this so much fun.
Thanks for the referral.

The picture is charming and your ability to create a full scene in so few words is terrific! Glad you joined in 🙂
Jilly,
Not sure if that’s the right name. 🙂 But thank you so much. I took the photo before the prompt and remembered I had taken it. It fit in so well.

Nice when that happens, Janis!
And yes, Jilly is the nickname I use; reminds me that I’m forever a child at heart. Jill Lyman
This is a nice seasonal family portrait. I liked the inclusion of the song of Solomon too, it fit perfectly.
Thank you so much. I needed a spring type poem to remind me of the days to come.

I think if you get some warmth the cold is easier to bear.
Björn,
That is so true. Those sunny days helped. Snow is still here but going slowly. Cool out today and cloudy.

I can imagine her frustration. It would be like being hot and cold.
Frank,
It was me and my frustration was high but I also thanked God that everyone was there having fun and I got to enjoy my family. They did all the work.

So glad to see you here, Janis! Oh yes….grandma and Mother Nature (or or those really sometimes one and the same?) feeling hot and cold. 🙂 I enjoyed this very much! Love the photo!
Lillian,
Thank you. Happy you enjoyed it. I see your feet in your picture too. 🙂
