Hot and Cold – A Quadrille Poem

Hot and Cold

Today I am trying a poetry form called quadrille (44 words). The prompt is “gather”. My poem is called “Hot and Cold”. I am joining Dverse – Poets Pub.

Springtime in the country. After a big snowstorm last weekend we had beautiful sunshine. Glorious time.  We are still waiting for the snow to melt but hopefully not too quickly so we don’t have floods.

My post is short and sweet today.

hot and cold

Hot and Cold

To gather – the intent
All the family together

But grandma got sick
There were no hugs for her

Kids made meals
Grandkids made grandma laugh

She watched as they played in sun and snow
A mixture of hot and cold
Exactly how grandma felt

hot and cold

“See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
 Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come (Song of Solomon 2:11-12, NIV).”

Watchful Wednesdays – How to Meet Jesus

Watchful Wednesdays – How to Meet Jesus

Jesus-Calling-August-16

Meet Me in early morning splendor. I eagerly await you there (Jesus Calling, August 16).

Yes, as I look through my windows the sun is draped in fog. I can see it trying to burn through. But it takes time.

Meeting Jesus is like that – it takes time for the Son to shine through. I read my Bible – I study His Word. I ask Him questions. I pray for others. But then just as the sun starts to shine through the fog, I sense His Presence in the room. A peace comes. In the stillness He is there.

When you see My Face in response to My love call, both of us are blessed (Jesus Calling, August 16). (tweet this)

Do you know Jesus? Have you asked Him to be Lord of your life? He will reveal Himself to you if you ask Him. That is all He is waiting for. He is waiting for you to ask Him. Do it now.

Is God in the Clouds?

Is God in the Clouds?

Is-God-in-the-Clouds

This morning the fog lay heavy. I couldn’t see very far out our window. Fog is a very heavy, low cloud isn’t it? But the picture about was another day – just plain cloudy but so beautiful with pink.

We talk about our walk with Jesus as being in the sun but sometimes it feels like we are in the clouds. There is murkiness in our thinking. We ask God to help clear our thinking. We ask Him to make it clear to us.

Oswald Chambers from July 29 says:

Through every cloud He brings He wants us to unlearn something.

Not to teach – but to unlearn. We have filled ourselves with stuff that God wants to wipe from our memory banks. He wants us to return to Him as a child.

Get rid of past hurts; get rid of fears; banish sorrows; push away anger.

Yes I guess those are unlearnings.

So when you see a cloud remember:

The clouds are a sign that He is there.

“They feared as they entered the cloud . . .” – Is there anyone “save Jesus only” in your cloud? If so, it will get darker; you must get to the place where there is “no one any more save Jesus only.”

Stand by your faith. Stand with Jesus.

Sunday Stillness – John 8:12

I always see God in the sun – as it reminds me that He is the Light of the world. There is never darkness when we have Jesus. He is the Light of life.

Today is Sunday Stillness.

Do you have a Scripture that spoke to you this week? Please link below. If you post to Twitter use #sundaystillness and @authorjaniscox.

Feel free to pin the picture. Follow me at AuthorJanisCox on Pinterest.

I would love it if you would subscribe to my blog. See the sidebar to enter your email address.

Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

LIGHT – Five Minute Fridays

Light

Sunlight on the flowers

As I sit and look out at the Arizona cloudless sky I remember why we decided to spend the winter months here – sunshine. This part of the state has so much sunshine – almost every day. It is an historic moment, well at least the weather forecasters get excited, when they see clouds in the future – there MIGHT be rain. And that makes them excited.

I have noticed something very interesting down here – everyone is friendly at the stores – really friendly. Smiles, “how are you?”, “Can I help you?” and they go out of their way to show that they really like us here. In our gated park we wave at everyone, stop to talk, and generally smile all the time.

I can attribute that to the sunshine – we are getting lots of it.

That’s why there is so much talk about Vitamin D. Are we getting enough in the northern parts of the country? We have many dark dreary days up north.

So if light means so much I can understand more of Revelation – there will be LIGHT all the time in Heaven – not from the sun but from the SON. God’s light will shine all the time and we will no longer be in darkness. I like that.

In the meantime whether I am in the north or the south I think looking to the Son is the most important job I have. He can light up my day no matter where I am, and whatever circumstances I am in He lifts my spirits. That is the LIGHT that I will continue to look to.

Time’s up.

My five minutes are up. What do you think of when you hear the word – LIGHT?

If you want to join The Gypsy Mama in her Five Minute Fridays read below.

Here are the rules:

Around here we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.

We write because we love words and the relief it is to just write them without worrying if they’re just right or not. So we take five minutes on Friday and write like we used to run when we were kids.

On Fridays we write like we believe we can fly. Won’t you join us? (<—Tweet this!)

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Please visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments.
