Is God Your First Thought?

Is-God-Your-First-Thought-

I read an article in Charisma magazine by Rich Rogers entitled The American Idols Must Die. He compares the similarity of the recent age in the United States to the time of Moses (found in 1 Samuel).

So many things vie for your attention in this complex world of instant communication (Jesus Calling, Sept 3).

Where do you spend your time?

Is God Your First Thought?

  • when things go well
  • when you have trouble
  • before you attempt something

Communicate with Me continually and I will put My thoughts in your mind (Jesus Calling, Sept 3).

I know I need to remember this. Do you?

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33, NIV).

This makes it pretty clear.

Put God and our communication with Him
– PRAYER – first. (tweet this)

Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10, NIV).

The last words of the article:

My Bible says that if God’s people humble themselves and PRAY and turn from their wicked ways, then He will hear from Heaven and heal their land.

And a last word from Oswald Chambers on the subject.

“The cares of this world,” says Jesus, “[will] choke God’s word”(Oswald Chambers, August 31).

Are you putting God first?

  1. I’m reading a book written in 1994, When Nations Die. It tells how countries decay and then die. The US is in dire straits. Fortunately for me, I finally understand where I fit and likewise “don’t fit”! I’m blessed to know the Truth and He is the one constant in my life. If only there weren’t so many who wished to make Him obsolete in all facets of our society. Thank you for sharing this blog! I’ll return!

  2. A thought provoking blog. I had to think carefully before answering your questions. I think that sometimes when trouble occurs I tend to look at the problem rather than the problem solver. I know each morning when I wake up my thoughts fly to my Saviour.

    1. Thanks Mary,
We talked about that last night at Bible Study – how we react to things that make us emotional – instead of staying with the Spirit. Oswald Chambers says that today as well. “When we come in contact with things that create a buzz, we find to our amazement that we have power to keep wonderfully poised in the centre of it all.”
Blessings to you my Sister in Christ,
      Janis

I love to connect with you.
