Enough – Five Minute Friday

Enough of Me

Joining Kate at Five Minute Friday #FMFparty. The word is “enough”. Write for 5 minutes. Go.

Sometimes it feels like I’ve had enough. What about you?

Too many things going wrong
arguments
cooking and cleaning
confusion
sickness

But then I stop. I realized it’s me. It’s not what I’m doing, or what others are doing. It’s me.

I have had enough of ME.

How do I get rid of me?

Seek Jesus, He is enough for me.

enough

When I go to Him, talk to Him, He gives me all I need.

I’m finally realizing that peace means to give up ME, and get Jesus.

The song that comes to me is Christ is Enough  sung by Hillsong.

Listen to some of the words:

There’s nothing in this world that could ever satisfy.

I’ve been set free.

Heaven is our home.

And it finishes with I have decided to follow Jesus.

When you’ve had enough of this world –
Seek Jesus because He is the Only One that can satisfy. (tweet this)

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV).

Word of God Speak – How to Accept God’s Grace

Word of God Speak – How to Accept God’s Grace

Last week our Scripture was 2 Corinthians 3:17

Now, the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

I looked at this Scripture in three different ways:

Word of God Speak –

Using the SIMPLE Method of Bible study I came to the notion that God was leading me to be proactive against human trafficking. I joined with Ratanak International to try to bring awareness against this travesty. I am wearing a dress every day to remind me to pray, and to speak to whomever God puts in my path about human trafficking.

Scripture and a Picture –

On Tuesdays I looked at this scripture again and thought of freedom. I captured the thought of Christians catching the football of faith and running with it. The Holy Spirit can bring a freedom that breaks us free of this world.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18

On Wednesdays I look at the Scripture again. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. I talk about birth and expectancy and how it can be compared to the expectancy of Christmas. Here is the Podcast Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Click on #38.

John 3-5 Holy spirit

That brings us to this week’s Scripture. Using the SIMPLE Bible Study Method I try to see what God is saying to me in HIs Word.

S – Say the passage out loud.

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no-one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit (John 3:5 NIV).”

I find it interesting that my NIV Bible is always a little different than Biblegateway.com even if I check the NIV or the NIVUK. So I use the one in my Bible.

I – Look at footnotes, commentaries, references.

I found Titus 3:5 helpful.

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

I read that baptism was an outward sign of an inward work of grace achieved by the Holy Spirit.

M – Make a list of questions, thoughts.

I have always wondered about baptism – children, adult, different denominations have different interpretations.

I grew up where there was infant baptism and then confirmation at the age of 16. When I came to a renewed faith in Christ in 2001, I wanted to be baptized through immersion as a declaration of my faith. I chose a lake in our county. It was definitely an outward sign as the Lord had already changed my heart inside.

P – Prayer. Take the time to be quiet before God. Still your mind. Let everything go out of your head except Christ.

As usual this is always an interesting time. He shows me pictures, ideas and convictions.

L – Life Application – What did God teach me?

I saw a picture of God in the Holy of Holies – beyond us all. Then I saw Him coming down and how He made Himself able to come into our lives through the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirt alive and active inside us, we can now connect to our Lord.

But I also saw those who don’t know God. I thought, “What does it take for the Spirit to move in the hearts of men? in my family? in my friends?

It is such a simple acceptance of God’s grace.

But I remember before I took that leap of faith, being prideful, and stubborn. So it takes the power of the Holy Spirit to break through our tough skin.

We have to realize that we cannot earn or win anything from God through our own efforts (Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest).

It is only when we get hungry spiritually that we receive the Holy Spirit (Oswald Chambers).

Jesus can take that which was beyond us, and place it in us (though the Holy Spirit) and rise us up to be with God.

E- Exit with a Prayer

Father, I thank you so much for showing me Who You are, for bringing me into the fold, for shepherding me. I pray for those Who don’t know. I ask that You lead them to Yourself. Help me to speak love, hope, joy and peace to all I meet. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.

5-Reasons-Jesus-is-My-Hero

Two Fridays ago the word of the week for Five Minute Friday was “hero”. I wrote for 5 minutes as I reflected on my hero. You can read it here.

Now I want to go into more detail of why Jesus is my hero.

Jesus made me to be born again and so He changed me. (click to tweet)

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. — John 3:3

Being born again from above is a perennial, perpetual and eternal beginning; a freshness all the time in thinking and in talking and in living, the continual surprise of the life of God (Oswald Chambers).

1. Jesus took away my WORRIES.

The first scripture I memorized was Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And he replaced my worries with prayer.

– Put
– Reason
– Aside
– Yield.

2. Jesus brought a PEACE into my daily life.

Now that I know He is in charge, I can go about my day following His leading.

P – Put
E – Everything
A – Aside
C – Christ
E – Enters

3. Jesus made me REAL.

Before my relationship with Jesus I play-acted my life. I went through the motions not knowing what I was doing here on earth. When I realized that this life is not the end, I could relax, enjoy and see each minute as a gift from God.

R – Release
E – Everything
A – And
L – Live

4. Jesus taught me not to FEAR.

Before I met Jesus I had many fears – fear of dying, fear of heights, fear of thunderstorms, fear for my children, fear of sitting by myself in a restaurant, fear of shopping by myself, fear of flying. (probably more).

I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears (Psalm 34:4, NIV).

My fears are all gone. I no longer have any fear except of God Himself.

Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress,
and for their children it will be a refuge (Proverbs 14:26, NIV).

5. Jesus brought me into a COMMUNITY of His Saints.

– others who really cared for me. Before I had acquaintances and friends. Now I have Friends Forever in Christ.

So Jesus is my Hero. He changed my life. He is the One I look to for everything. (click to tweet)

Is Jesus your hero?

I love this song sung here by Jesus Culture – Holding Nothing Back, by Tim Hughes.

I am chosen, I am free
I am living for eternity
Free now forever
You pick me up, turn me around
You set my feet on solid ground
Yours now forever

And nothing’s gonna hold me back
Nothing’s gonna hold me back
Nothing’s gonna hold me back

My chains fell off, my heart was free
I’m alive to live for You
I’m alive to live for You

Amazing love, how can it be?
You gave everything for me
You gave everything for me

You’ve washed my sin and shame away
The slate is clean, a brand new day

Free now forever
Now boldly I approach Your throne
To claim this crown through Christ my own
Yours now forever, yeah

And I’m free to live, free to give, free to be
I’m free to love You

Free to live, free to give, free to be
I’m free to love You
Free to live, free to give, free to be
I’m free to love You, Lord
