Podcast for Hope Stream Radio – The Poppy

poppy John 15-13

This week on Hope Stream Radio I talk about the poppy, and what it means to me spiritually. It goes so well with the scripture we are memorizing this week from Isaiah 40:8. The poppy will fade but God’s Word stands forever.

Jesus laid down His life for us. Let us take up that banner – the banner of Christ. I found this song on You Tube. I really liked the words. Raise a banner of love. This is by Luminate Band – Banner of Love.

This seems to be what the world needs right now. LOVE.

Please tune in to Hope Stream Radio and listen to my program called Word of God Speak – the Poppy.

Thoughtful Tuesdays – How Jesus is My Hope

Thoughtful Tuesdays – How Jesus is My Hope

It is not what I can do but what Christ can do in me and through me. (based on 1 Corinthians 2:4)

This past Sunday was the first Sunday in Advent – HOPE.

Advent for me is an adventure. Where is God leading me? What is He teaching me?

The word for this week is HOPE.

As I listened to the sermon I remember these words I have memorized from Titus.

faith and knowledge, resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised from the beginning of time (Titus 1:2, NIV).

I love, “resting on the hope”. Even the word “resting” brings a peace.

As God’s plan unfolds I can only see the past and today. But:

I can believe in hope for the future.

Two songs came to me this morning both dealing with HOPE.

Good to Me sung by Craig Musseau.

“Your are my hope
Your promise never fails me.”

And In Christ Alone sung by Kirstian Stanfill.

“Jesus commands my destiny.”

I found my HOPE in Christ alone. Have you?

Someone was Praying for Me

by Jan Cox

“When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.”

I searched for the words of this quote on the Internet but could find no one’s name associated with the words.

This week I have been struggling with breathing problems brought on by the pollen in Arizona. I asked a few friends for prayer. Today I am much better and I know it is because “someone has prayed” for me.

Today I watched a video on Huntley Street of a mother and father who prayed constantly for their daughter as she struggled through alcohol and drugs. The mother and daughter co-authored a book called Cut the Strings. God answered and changed a life. In one point of the video the mom tells of many nights when the father did not sleep but prayed throughout the night and then went to work the next day. That is devotion and that is what God asks of us. The video has two parts, one and two. More about the book and a review can be found here.

If you are wakened at night – don’t fret. Count it a privilege that God wants to listen to you. Open your heart and let the Holy Spirit bring people, thoughts, worries and whatever else into your mind so you can give it up to the Lord.

And when you pray remember someone is praying for you, too!

My Gratitude List for this week:

44.  Mail from the post office – a card of thank you

Father, we thank you that you have blessed us with the ability to pray – to communicate with you. What a wonderful feeling to have this connection. Continue to nudge us when we forget and help us to learn to lift all of our lives to You. In Jesus’ name. AMEN
