Want – Five Minute Friday #FMF
What do I want? What does God want? Are the two compatible? Once again I think it comes down to our life’s purpose (which changes in seasons).
I am joining Five Minute Friday writers with a prompt of want
…and write for five, yes five minutes.
Jeff Goins helped me find my focus at this point in time – God’s Word.
He asked:
What do you like?
What are you good at?
How can you help others?
After reading this statement found in The Art of Work by Jeff Goins:
When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it (Paul Coelho).
I changed it to follow what God wants:
If you are in God’s will, all your passions and abilities will open doors for God’s glory (Janis Cox 2016).
We need to pay attention to where God is leading us – that will show us what He wants. Don’t tell your life what you want, listen to God and watch where He leads.
More and more I am becoming aware that God leads me to where He wants me to go.
From a study called Experiencing God by Blackaby I remember one important lesson. Be aware. Pay attention to God and He will guide you in the next step. Be open.
But I have also learned that I can take a step in any direction (it is good to move) and God will tell me if I am going in the right direction and correct me if He needs to.
If you ask for things from life instead of from God, you ask amiss (Oswald Chambers).
Knock on God’s door. Spend time with Him so you will want what He wants.
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19, NIV).

What an encouraging post! I love that God wants to use us in ways we will enjoy. Following Him truly is the Abundant Life!
I loved your post Jan. Yes, God opens doors when we are obedient and I so want to obey. I loved this post. Thank you.
Rose,
So wonderful to “see” you. Obedience doesn’t come easily and we do stray. Praising God that He leads us back when we get focused on His Word.
Blessings to you friend,
Janis
This is a beautiful, encouraging post and so true. I love this quote, “If you are in God’s will, all your passions and abilities will open doors for God’s glory.” He is so into getting us knitted with what He desires in us. Stopping by from FMF. Blessings!
Thank you. I love the “knitted with what He desire in us” – now I see a lovely picture being knitted with God.
Blessings,
Janis
What I have been amazed by this season is the easy with which doors open when you are in the Lord’s will. After being out of His will in the last season, doing what seemed right to so many and hitting closed doors it has been boggling to see the doors fly open in this. Fantastic reminders.
Amber,
That is so exciting – when we see Him working through everything. It is so hard to hold back and let God do it. Doors do fly open when God does the opening.
Blessings,
Janis
Great post! It’s so important to spend time seeking what God wants and letting him lead us instead of just getting caught up in our own desires. Visiting from FMF (#44)
HI Carly,
It is great to meet you. Yes I found the more time I spent with God the better I knew where and what He wanted me to do.
Blessings,
Janis
