Sunday Stillness – Psalm 91:1
This past week my hubby and I went away on a short holiday. As we travelled south from Mesa, Arizona towards Bisbee the mountain ranges held my attention. I had been reading Psalm 91 every day and the first line of that Psalm rang clear.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1, NIV).
I had noticed while in the town of Bisbee – a town built into the mountains that the sun is obscured by 4pm. But also the wind is less as well. Definitely we were sheltered. I felt the Presence of God as I looked at those mountains and thought about this Scripture. We are sheltered by His Presence; we are under His shadow – safe and secure.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
I found Psalm 91 put to music. This is quite lovely.

I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.

so often we think of shadows as negative things, but there is no safer place to be than in the shadow/shelter of Almighty God!

Interestingly I wondered about a shadow first – but then remember under the shadow of His wings – so being in the shadow of His mountain works for me too.

Psalm 91 is a psalm that God kept brining to my attention a few years ago when I was facing a health crisis. It brought me much comfort and assurance that he was with me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Found you via Sacro Speco at All Manner of Inspiration.
Teresa,
This Psalm has been speaking to me so much this past month. Reading it every day makes me realize how much we can give to Him – and rest in His Presence.
Blessings,
Janis
Psalm 91 is one of my favorites, thank you for the beautiful song and the reminder, that He is our shelter!
NIna,
Thanks so much. To remember that we are sheltered by Him – as a shadow, or under His wings – we are covered.
Blessings,
janis

Thanks so much Shelly,
I thought the music lovely too. I had never heard it before and the words were perfect.

I LOVE Psalm 91! I had trouble signing up for your newsletter?
Barbie,
Thanks for drawing that to my attention. I think it is all fixed now.
Blessings,
Janis
I’m so happy to be here from the weekend brew. Psalm 91 is a favorite or ours too. I enjoyed the song!
Elizabeth,
Welcome. Glad you dropped over and happy you enjoyed your visit.
Blessings,
Janis
I’ve always loved this Psalm! Michael Crawford sings “On Eagles’ Wings” which also has many references to Ps. 91. This was also part of our Bible reading today! Thanks for hosting & God bless.
Laurie,
That’s a great song – On Eagles’ Wings – and isn’t it interesting that you are reading it too.
Blessings,
Janis
