My Word for 2016?

My Word for 2016?

I have been praying this week to find my word for 2016. I have mulled over many things. As we celebrated Christmas I focused on all that meant to me. This week I found myself thinking about “after Christmas”. What does that mean?

I thought about the magi and wrote a post for Community Moms for this coming week. I really thought about those wisemen. They knew something important happened. They had seen a sign.

Am I watching carefully enough to see a sign from God? (tweet this)

I decided to look over the past 4 years – ever since I started choosing one word for the year. You can see my walk by clicking the links below. I went from trust, to live, to follow and then this year be intentional.

I don’t know what my word for 2016 is – yet. I know that I need to take this week to spend in prayer and study. I won’t be posting any regular posts until next weekend.

While I am searching for my word, I ask you, do you have a word for this year? (tweet this)

Here is my history of words.

Thoughtful Tuesdays – How to change my plan to His plan

Thoughtful Tuesdays – How to change my plan to His plan

I have been mulling over my Word for 2015 – Intentional. I know I have to get over the procrastination part of me and the scattered plans and change. However, there is one thing that remains the focus of all that I will not give up – that’s:

to be Intentional to listen to God.

change And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, NIV).

And as I listen my plans may change – because I must be ready to change:

my plan and follow His plan.

Readings from Oswald Chambers on December 18th:

It is only a faithful person who believes that God sovereignly controls his circumstances.

Being faithful to Jesus Christ is the most difficult thing we try to do today.

The goal of faithfulness is not that we will do the work for God, but that He will be free to do His work through us (Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, Dec 18).

The working words here are “free to do His work”.

And from Romans 8:31:

If our God is for us who can be against us.

I know that everyone at this time of year is not ready to be merry and bright and I want to be sensitive to that issue.

But I do believe we all can have a Blessed Christmas if we focus on the One who saved us. Let’s focus on the JOY of the LORD.

So to all my friends, have a Blessed Christmas.

Thoughtful Tuesdays – What are my Goals for 2015?

Thoughtful Tuesdays –  What are my Goals for 2015?

I watched 3 videos produced by Michael Hyatt. I think they are worth watching for writers and non-writers.

What did I learn?

First of all I know that I procrastinate  – a lot.
I know that I am led astray very easily.
I have lots of interesting ideas and thoughts – too many for one person to accomplish.

So I decided to write down exactly how and what I am feeling at this point. (That way I can review this next year.)

  1. I will look back over 2014 and see what I accomplished.
  2. I will allow myself to dream – and dream big.
  3. I will write down my goals.
  4. I will be specific in my goal setting.
  5. I will look at where I am most motivated and go in that direction.
  6. I will start – even if it is small bites – because starting is important.

I didn’t join the 5 day course Michael was advertising but I learned a lot in the first two videos to know where to start.

Here is my full sentence using the red words.

After I look back over the last year, I will dream; then write down specific goals in the areas where I am most motivated and I will start.

I know that I always start with God. Here is a Scripture He brought to my mind.

So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place (1 Samuel 3:9, NIV)

As you can see my goals differ from my personality. I remember attending a workshop called – How to be Intentional. I think that is exactly what I need to do – be Intentional for 2015. Not only intentional on listening to God – but intentional on writing down what I feel and hear in my heart.

I guess that will be my working word for 2015 – Intentional.
