WEDNESDAY’S WORD – Grace

Wednesday’s Word – Grace

Word - Grace

Great sermon on Sunday. Here is my take-away:

Jesus was and is GRACE. Jesus was and is TRUTH.

Can we even come close? I fall far short of both.

But the biggest take-away from Sunday is this:

Truth cannot be seen until grace is shown. Tweet this.

How many times do we speak and hear God’s truth NOT given in grace? All truth cannot be stated outright to everyone at one sitting. It is too much to take in.

Our pastor gave the analogy of salt (actually he likes pepper) . If we put too much on we will spoil the dinner. Don’t overdo or plunge into the TRUTH until you have shown the GRACE of Christ.

Nothing can be added or taken away from Jesus.
He does hold everything together. (Colossians 1:17) Tweet this.

Can we approach everyone with a “grace-filled” attitude? Everyone? Even the ones we disagree with? The ones we know have strayed from the truth? Or do we push them further away from God by our un-graceful attitude or judgment?

Sober words. I had to think. Am I always “grace-filled”? No

Am I more aware of trying to be “grace-filled”? Yes

How grace-filled are you? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Today is Wednesday’s Word LINKUP.

WEDNESDAY’S WORD – Aware

Wednesday’s Word – Aware

As I try to be more intentional of what God is showing me I know I have to be more aware of people; their body language, and their underlying words. I am trying to not be so agenda driven and trying to be more in tune with the Holy Spirit.

This is not easy. When I have “things to do”, “places to go” and “people to see” I want to do them.

I struggle with letting go.

But each day gets a little easier as I try to focus on what needs to be done in the time I have and let all the rest fade into Neverland. It is hard for a task-oriented person to say, “oh well I don’t have to do that”. But it is possible! With God’s help.

“If you are God-centered, you will adjust your life to what God wants to do” (Experiencing God, Henry Blackaby). Tweet this.

This is what I am learning from my Bible study. Blackaby states quite clearly that:

God can interrupt what I am doing anytime He wants. Tweet this.

But I have to be aware of it so I can change my focus and obey Him.

It is working with my husband, (I think). I am trying very hard not to be totally into my work all the time so that I can actually have time to listen to him. Well God wants me to do the same thing.

This week is a case in point. I was asked to do a storytelling for the Sunday school this past Sunday. Well – you know I had a zillion things to do already. When would I have time to concentrate and learn a story? But …. I said YES because I knew God gave me this opportunity to try this. And you know what? –

God gave me the time (He has control of time, you know);
He gave me the confidence; and He gave me the energy and passion.

I had a wonderful time.

So – are you focussed on your “stuff” or are you becoming aware of what God is doing  – and following Him?

Today is Wednesday’s Word LINKUP.

WEDNESDAY’S WORD – Obey

Wednesday’s Word – OBEY

Sometimes I feel like I am stretched to the last ounce of my strength and time. So how can I do all the things that I think God has put before me?

Then He shows me:

Trust me enough to spend ample time with me and I will give you time. “I am able to bend time and events in your favor” (Jesus Calling, February 10).

And it works. In obedience I put Him first every day. In prayer, in study and meditation. And when I feel like I have no more energy left. I stop – and pray – rest in Him for a few minutes. REVIVED. Ready to tackle a little bit more.

So this week OBEY has been at the top of my list. It means to turn to God. I learned three important steps to obedience:

1. Don’t wait for God to come to you.

2.  Your mind is a gift from God – Use it. Choose to obey the Holy Spirit.  Click to Tweet

“we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5, NIV).

3.  Prod your memory. Wake it up.

The word “remember” is spoken many times in the Bible. I have joined the Romans Project to help me remember God’s Word. And I also have been learning a Scripture a week in Experiencing God.

So memorize Scripture. You can do it.

“My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,” (Proverbs 3:1, NIV).

“Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” (John 14:21, NIV).

If I want to have a close relationship with God I need to learn to obey.

What do you think? Are there ways that you have learned to obey? I would love to hear from you.

WHY DO I BLOG?

Why Do I Blog?

I ask everything of the Lord. The other day I said, “Okay Lord, you have led me to write, to publish a book and now you are asking me to blog more. Why?” In a few days, He answered me.

The answer: Togetherness

Wednesday’s Word – Together.

Scripture upon scripture came to me this week and each one had to do with building relationships. First we need to build a personal relationship with God through Jesus. Then we build relationships with other believers so we can grow in our faith together.

“”Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.”” [a memory verse for Bible study]

And the second is like it: “Love your neighbour as yourself””(Matthew 22: 37-39, NIV).

Next in my memory work for Romans I came upon:

“that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith” (Romans 1:12, NIV)

Building a community of believers.

That is why the Lord has given me a passion to write. I write for God’s glory and not my own.

I want to write so God can be blessed; that others will spend more time thinking of and talking about Jesus; and that together we will grow closer to Him.

What does that mean for me?

  • I need to study more
  • I need to read more
  • I need to stop fixating on the how it will work but instead focus on the what does He want me to say.

Here is another passage He showed me:

“And in Him you too are being built TOGETHER to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit” (Ephesians 2:22, NIV).

If we go back to Acts – when the disciples met they would discuss, learn, and question God.

They “met together to discuss important issues” (Acts 15:6, NRSV).

I know that as I read other blogs and meet other believers my faith grow stronger. And now that I know that making a community where we can grow in togetherness is God’s plan for me, I will continue to press on in writing, reading, studying, praying and meditating.

“Christianity is a personal, practical and progressive relationship with Almighty God” ~ Henry Blackaby, Experiencing God.   Click to Tweet

If God can be practical in helping me build a relationship with Him, I can be practical in bridging the immensity of the world, the difference in race, culture, and age – and build a strong togetherness in Christ – right here on the Internet.

WEDNESDAY’S WORD – Trust

Wednesday’s Word – Trust

In Wednesday’s Word I hope that we can spread His Word around the world one word at a time. Please link below with your thoughts from God. Or leave them in the comment section with your link.

There are times my mind screams why God? Then in the next instant He shows me – why.

This past week a friend lost her husband suddenly. All of this seemed unreal. My husband and I had just met them. We were planning on getting together again but plans kept changing and then poof – he was gone.

But what I did see was God in action – in a family of faith. Continue reading

WEDNESDAY’S WORD – Begin

Wednesday’s Word – Begin

Wednesday's-Word

I am beginning a new idea here on He Cares for You. I have added a Linky Tool at the bottom of this post. We’ll see what happens.

This week my word from God is BEGIN.

When we were born in the Spirit we began a new life. But did you know this isn’t a one time occurrence?

“Being born again from above is an enduring, perpetual, and eternal beginning.”

Are you being surprised every day? Are you being renewed every morning?

Begin afresh every day.

A number of years ago my first acronym in my walk with Christ was SMILE.

S – See
M – More
I – In
L – Life
E – Every day

WEDNESDAY’S WORD – Today

Wednesday’s Word – Today

As I decided on my WORD for 2013 – LIVE, I thought it would be good to find one word a week that comes from God’s word to take me through the week. Today – that is today’s word.

The song that has been flowing through my head, beside my tap dancing songs, is This is the Day. When I went go to Poland on mission trips we sing this song in English and Polish.

Reminder of the words:

This is the day that the Lord has madeLet us rejoice and be glad in it.

What is important about today? – answer: living it.

Are you totally living in each moment of today? Or are you thinking of tomorrow? Or yesterday? Are you upset about something that happened and rehash it over and over – forgetting that it is in the past and THIS IS THE DAY.

“Rehearsing your troubles results is experiencing them many times, whereas you are meant to go through them only WHEN they actually occur. Do not multiply your suffering in this way” ~Sarah Young – Jesus Calling.

So what do we do when all those things come rattling into our minds?

We listen to Jesus.

He said:

“My yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30 NIV).

and

“I will never leave you or forsake you” (Joshua 1:5 NIV).

Read His Word and He will fill you up.

He can be your peace in anything.

I would love to hear your comments and please link to your post if you have heard something from God today.

7 HABITS FOR 2013

7 Habits for 2013

A new year –  a new start.

Another way to count the gifts

Here are a few of my thoughts from this morning’s meditation:

1. “Stay with Me”, says the LORD

– I am to remember to always start my day with Him

2. Get organized.

I think that lately I have been scattered. Not sure if it is the newness of marketing, the ideas flowing so ferociously, that my computer is smack dab in the middle of my kitchen – my husband, our dog, the people walking by outside my window. But I need a plan – for food, for housekeeping, for writing, for computer time.

3. Get a year’s plan.

I want to develop a year’s plan of what I think God wants me to head for, expecting that my course my have many side trails and stop signs.

4. Keep memorizing Scripture.

I have 17 Scriptures under my belt. I had to work hard to get them into this brain. Certainly not as easy as it was years ago. But with practice I can learn to memorize.

5. Continue to Count the Gifts

– I am switching to the JOY DARE from Ann Voskamp because I need more focus on the wonders of God’s gifts.

6. Read more non-fiction with intention to spread what I read.

I have many books on my shelf and on my Kindle. I want to work through these with intention. My first one when it arrives will be Wonderstruck by Margaret Feinberg. This book seems to follow the counting of gifts – to be aware of in tune with God.

7. To focus on the WORD that God has given me for this year (will say more about that later).

This past year the WORD was TRUST – and I think that I became closer to God by trusting Him. I will continue to trust Him this year.

Those are my habits that will be pinned to my bulletin board. I plan to review them and make sure I am following His leading and never be afraid to add another Habit.

Blessings to all my readers.
